View Full Version : Arrow Question on the numbers....

I have a "Pet Peeve" about the numbers on Carbon Arrows.

When they put like 55/75 on them people think if you shoot between 55# and 75# that the arrow is right for them!

This is true maybe in most cases, but when the tip weight is high and the arrow is long, it is not the right size.

When the arrow is very short and a light tip it is the wrong size.

Just something I run into with finding the right size using the charts for the arrows, Archers look at me like I'm stupid in telling them a size according to the chart and they see the 45/60 on the arrow and say, But I'm shooting 65# this is the wrong arrow! Then I show them with the chart and they look at me again like I'm on drugs.

Anyone out there run in to this besides me?

I think that is why they make arrow charts, and try to have knowledgable people behind the counter.

I don't have nearly the impact on others as you Dave but yeah....I think it's a little bit silly.

I personally won't even consider an arrow unless I can find hard fast numbers of SPECIFIC spine. I just don't have the cash or time to sift though whatever they 40-60 55-75 crap they put on there.

20 freakin' Lbs of spine window is almost ludicrous as well.

I understand they're trying to make it a little easier for the average guy to buy their stuff but come ON!

It'd be better to have them have to ask the guy behind the counter than to get the 55-75 with a 26" arrow and 100 grain tip shooting 62lb wheely and NEVER understand why they can't get them to come correct.

Went through the same thing a couple years ago. 29" terminator 45-60 with 125 field tips flew great. 125 hunting heads flew horrible. Found out that I was on the edge of being underspined and adding the hunting head was the straw that broke the camels back. Saved buying more arrows and switched to 100 gr heads. Still had to back the poundage down on my bow until good broadhead flight ensued.
