I was wondering how many of you use and had any problems with it. I got one last year and love it, but the problem i have is sometimes tears my veins. And i have to think it would affect arrow flight but no visible sign of it by arrow placement on atarget. Has anyone had a similar experience with this rest?

yes it tears my vanes also.
put a big dab of fletch glue at the front of your vanes and it will stop it from ripping them off.
Yep thats why I got rid of it!!

get tatttered within a hundred shots. Makes them a bit noisier, but still accurate, eh Tom? ;)

buckchaser,
Is it tearing the vein itself, or tearing them off the shaft?
FWIW I was planning to get one but Howard at Hog Wild Archery suggested againt it. He said they're great when it's warm and rybut they boce stiff in cold weather and worse if any water, dew or condensation freeze on the whiskers. So, I took his advice and kept my trusty prong rest.

I shoot a 10 year old hoyt striker II so I am slow to change.
But when carbons hit the market the old tm hunter rest had to go.
I feel in todays archery you should go with full containment rest (wb) or zero containment (fall away).
I have killed mule deer, whitetail deer, and turkeys with my wb. IMO the wb is the best overall hunting rest in archery at this time. Remember I said hunting rest, 3-d is where the fall away shines.

If you're tearing vanes you have larger problems than the WB. Inferior vanes or glue or you just have it adjusted wrong. The WB will ripple your vanes but there's a cure for them vanes. Heat em up with a hairdryer and when they cool they'll come right back to form. Try Blazers with that WB. You'll be much happier, I guarantee it!!

the biscuit is tearing them off the shaft. I shoot red head carbon arrows and it is possiblle they are inferior veins or to little glue, but i have used their brand for years and find them just as reliable as the pricey brands. It has dawned on me that because i shot a pronghorn rest for years that i have gotten caught up in having the cock vein down , but with the biscuit it seems to me it would not matter which direction the veins go in because they will all have to go through the hair.

I shoot my cock feather out, sounds like you have an issue with the glue us, ed to fletch your arrows. On another note what size biscuit hole do you have? alluminum size hole works best for all arrows, yes even for the carbons. The dab of glue on the fletching also helps alot as someone else already mentioned.

I have been back and forth between getting the wb or a fallaway. I think I will go with the rip cord. Your arrow won't fall off the rest and you got the benefit of a fallaway. A friend of mine shoots the wb and said his vanes get tore up and also if it's dead quite in the woods and he tries to draw, the the bristles ( I guess) make a noise on the shaft.

Blazer vanes by Bonhing are a must for the Whisker Biscit!!! Blazers are a lot stiffer vane. Also put a dot of super-glue on the front of the vane, it makes the vane hard and tear resistent, :bash: I have never had a torn vane in year and a half!! Simple Fix!!!!!!!

With WBs most guys recomend shooting cock feather up, the new WB are designed with slightly stiffer bristles on the very bottom to prevent the arrown from gnarling them up... you don't want the veins to touch those tougher bristles as all.. so feather up... (those stiffer bristles are a different color.

I'm on my third biscuit and bow set up, have been using wb since the year they hit the market. The only advantage to the newer biscuit is all the brisstles are softer execpt a group at the bottom to better hold the arrow up, and the cut out for faster loading and for mechinals. I fletch my own arrows, so a little wear on the feathers is no problem. Like I said before I personally shoot my cock feather out, I don't really think it matters. If you call the company and talk to a rep they reccomend shooting the alluminum size hole for all arrows. As far as noise goes, some of the carbons that have a rougher finish make a slight noise when drawing back, I used the beemans ICS hunters (regular finish not camo ) and there's no noise at all. My freind owns a bow shop and I see alot of people using them, only a few have had any issues with them. I think it's important to use a arrow with a smooth surface, some of the camo patterns are rougher and make a slight noise when drawing. We have shot through the cronograph many times and the arrow speed is only 2-4 less fps.

buckchaser,
If you have a fletching tool try this.
Remove the old veins, use 000 steel wool on the carbon shaft to remove the old glue.
Than wipe the shaft with alcohol. Let it dry. I use Bohning Carbon arrow glue. Not sure the exact name but it’s the red tube. Reapply new veins and as everyone has suggested put a drop of glue front and back on the vein.
Almost forgot: Let them dry overnight.

My glue of choice is Loctite Super Glue Gel. I've yet to lose a vane to tthe WB with that stuff!!

I too have had a whisker biscuit for a couple of years. What I found works is getting new arrows. Just kidding.
Try using some armor all on the biscuit and on the arrow vanes. This should let them slip thru easier with less friction.
Plus, when it comes time to buy new arrows, go with the blazer vanes. The armor all stopped the problem until I got new arrows.

If I switch from aluminum to carbon can I use the same Whisker Biscuit?

You should get a new insert that is specifically for carbon arrows. Although, someone did post earlier saying that if you talk to the company, they recommend that you shoot with the aluminum size insert with carbons...

The company reccomends using the alluminum hole for ALL arrows. This alone helps with the issues everone is having about noise and feathers and vanes being tore off. There is no accuracy difference using the larger diameter hole as opposed to using the carbon size.

buckchaser i hate to say it but them redheads are garbage plain and simple
as for the W.B. i had been hounded by a friend to try 1 as my bow cant use a zero effect due to cable gaurd being in wrong place, so i put a wb on 2 weeks ago and instantly my groups got tighter and i was shooting really well, but the thing i did notice after shooting my carbon pse arrows thru it was that it did get them a bit ragged, so i ordered some blazer vanes and wraps, got them friday and by saturday i had a half dozen fletched with 4
vanes and wraps. sunday i went shooting and all i can say is WOOOOOOW
i never ever shot so good in my life and i always was a good shot, but now im better i can consistantly put 6 arrows inside a milk jug cap, from both 20 and 30 yrds, and after a full day of on and of shooting i am convinced that the WB is the best rest on the market, i shot roughly 150 arrows thru the course of the day and not 1 single vane is wrinkled or coming unglued, if your gonna shoot a WB then do yourself and your arrows a favor spend a few extra bucks and go with the blazer vanes, and ill bet you wont regret it.
ill post some pics later tonite so everyone can see my setup..
