I am going to update my bow mount from a 40 to a 55 or 70 pound this fall. My quistion is that the 55 is 12 volts and the 70 is 24 volts. Dose the 24 volt use less, more or the same amount of juice when trolling at a slow speed? I allways use 2 batteries (hooked in series), so that is not a factor. Will th 24 volt hold up longer? . We troll Muskegon Lake after dark in the fall and, the motor may run for 3 to 7 hours with out being shut off

I've allways had Minn Kotas and, think they hold up farly well but, if there's a better one out there I would like some input.

Thanks, Ken.

I have a minnkota 65lb thrust 24 volt setup and I love it. I fish a lot in the detroit river when vertical jigging is a must, and I have never been let down. I will fish the river all day and be on and off my pedal constantly and at the end of the day i still have a full charge. I use the Optima batteries which i think have made a big difference. and the 65lb thrust has more than enough power to move my 18 foot mirrocraft against the current very quickly, my boat probably weighs about 2000 lbs or more. Hope this helps, any questions please ask.
