Hey guys I am in the process of a new hunting arrow search. I've always used xx78's and xx75's. I liked them but the durability of a carbon arrow is very appealing to me. I've been reading a lot about the different carbons on the market and I want to point out that I am a deer hunter, not a target shooter. I don't have to have the best.......I don't shoot past 30 yards and my main goal is to kill a deer and not to have the most expensive arrow on the market in my quiver. Like I said I don't shoot for competition so I don't need the tightest grouping arrows, I just was wonderign what everyone else is shooting and what they've had good success with.

Easton Carbon Excels are a great choice IMO. Relatively inexpensive, easy to find (and replace ;) ) Straight enough, very durable...all around a solid performer.
I started using Beman Black Max this year and I can now vouch for the superior penetration of a smaller diameter and a little extra weight. These hit HARD. Every arrow shot at the Block setup at the shop is a cinch to pull....but these. They bury deep. I liek the Hidden insert too. Take the time to make sure the shaft is cut straight and fluch and no hassle with loose-wobble-off kilter inserts. Extremely durable too.
A little more $ but I've been impressed so far.

Goldtip Hunters or Carbon Express Terminators. Both are sufficient arrows and they won't break the bank.
I have had great experiences with Goldtips . . . a solid choice for hunting.
I would recommend CX Terminator Hunters...probably one of the most durable carbon shafts you can buy with a reasonable price tag.

I am currently using Easton Axis ST. They are too much money, but I can tell a pretty big difference with them over the Easton Epics (which I formerly used). I would say that the Epics are a good choice for someone looking for value. I used to shoot a 2317 XX75.

I second that, I have killed many deer with those arrows. I went with AXIS arrows now and may go back to ICS hunters!!

I've always used xx78's then 6 years ago switched to Easton ACC's, I didn't really like those arrows because they were too light for my thunderheads I was shooting, they didn't fly good, kept planeing out, and it wasn't because my setup was wrong either. I was shooting 286fps close to 5 grains per pound (IBO). So, instead of switching arrows I switched to a 2 blade mechanical broadhead (BIG MISTAKE IMO), They flew great!! Lost to many deer, those heads were kicking my tail and I was losing alot of my inertia, making my arrow heading straight up. BAD YEAR. The next year switched to 2117's, back to 125grain thunderheads, slowed my arrow spead up quite abit but shot placement is key!!!! as long as you don't have 2 bladed mech. I like the small dia. of these arrows for penitration and the heavier wall stock, So I don't think that the kind of arrow a person uses is as a determining factor as the shot placement, so get out there and practice, practice, practice!!!!

Carbon Express Terminators...very good for beginning carbon arrows. Extremely strong, and not too light to be finicky. For a step up in speed I've used the CE 100, 200's, and 300's for around 9 years now and been very happy with them from hunting, to 3D, to target.

Don't fix it..... especially in September! I'd stick with the aluminum arrows you have been using and think about switching..... say.... around January 2nd. <----<<<
