What is determined to be the line between the lake and the mouth of the river.
I don't want to be keeping 13" fish if they are caught in the lake.
Is it the lighthouse? Marker bouys?

I dont want to purposely mislead anyone but I do believe that it starts at the 1st set of bouys in the mouth based upon a previous discussion.1 other question came to mine the other night when I was out there.if you catch fish out in the lake and in the river how do they enforce size and possesion limits.5 five out in the lake none smaller than 15" 6 in the river and no smaller than 13"
Help appreciated Aaron

There's a very small section in the fishing regs under the "Common Terms" section that states the St Clair River starts at the Ft Gratiot Light house. So the way I read it anything N of that (the bouys) is Lake Huron and technically 15" and 5 fish are the limits. How close they watch that and enforce it who knows?

I'm not sure on the US interpretation, but on the Canadian side the boundary is the North side of the first bridge.
This was the topic of much discussion a couple years ago, when Canada implemented a limit of 2 rainbows in Lake Huron. Lots of guys fish right at the bridge area, and struggled with this.
Our local club had the MNR in to specifically clarify this ruling, and the north side of the first bridge was the decision. CO's said they will lay charges based on this ruling.
Probably doesn't help you much on the US side.

I work with some DNR Fish Biologists who told me the Fort Gratiot Light house is the boundary line. Just as Walll-llard Wille said.
