I picked up the Waterfowl Hunting Guide last night.

In standard format, the table lists the season dates by zone for the various species, with the caveat of (see Note "a" for canvasback and pintails.

Notes /Exceptions for (a) go on to list the abbreviated season dates for canvasbacks throughout the various zones. But there is NO mention of an abbreviated season for pintails. In fact, they aren't even mentioned.

What gives? Is there a short season for sprig or what?

While I'm usually not inundated with flocks of pintails, I have one spot where it is way too easy to accidentally shoot too many brown ducks in the hazy light of dawn.

Thanks!

If I can not ID a bird I dont shoot it. Yes it took a few years to learn the ID on the wing. But I rarely shoot a bird without knowing what it is.
I would recomend that you do the same.
