I heard that Cabelas bough the Reed City airport and they are supposed to build there. Anyone else hear anything ?

That would be great but I'm sure it's a rumor. It's such a narrow strip to build on before you get to the river. Too small for a good size building and parking lot. That and the owner prolly will never sell and the area sucks for business.

I believe the same of what you said.

Yep, about 6 or 7 of these rumors pop up every year. Same results. If you want the answer, go to the county office and get the records. This info is all available to the public...if the property changed hands you can find out, but even if Cabelas bought the land it would be in the name of a land holding co or investment group that is part of Cabelas anyway.

Either way, don't hold your breath!

I also heard a rumor today that Cabelas was going to build here in Muskegon, near the new mall.  While I would love one here, I think they would be a fool to build here, especially with the economic decline this area is in. I would not be surprised if they did look at the West side of the state somewhere though.

No way they would come to muskegon. At least right now. It doesnt make any economic sence.

Cabelas isn't going to build another store in michigan. Take a look at where their stores are. they are very spaced out because they don't need a lot of stores. People will drive hours to get to their stores. Why do you think they are michigan's number one tourist attraction?

I do not believe Cabela's will ever build another store in Michigan because this state is just not big enough. If you look at the states that have more than one store they are for the most part alot bigger than Michigan. Another thing does it bother anyone else but does it seem that Cabela's saying that it is the number one tourist attraction in the state seem odd. With all of the other historical sites that michigan has a store in Dundee beats them all I kinda find that hard to believe. Does anyone know how they determined this to be the case. I what to know numbers and stats. Don't get me wrong I shop Cabela's and find good deals their now and then but to be the number one tourist attraction for me at least seems far fetched.

Cabelas is planning a NW Indiana store. I heard on the radio this morning that they've agreed on a price.

I have been hoping for a chicago area store for some time. It's closer to us sw corner guys. There have been rumors around here about a store near South Bend etc along the 80/90 toll way for a couple of years now.....this sounds close to 80/90, just farther west of South Bend. Heck I'd commute to work their part time on the weekends!

I just had a scary thought.....that's only about 40 minutes from my house! My budget is going to take a serious beating....maybe I had better find a second job now so I am fully prepared!

More news/rumors. Heard that Cabelas offered the owner and he turned it down. Might be a way to get more money, might be a rumor. Sounds like Cabelas are interested in building a site up here. With the hunter population being as large as it is and the many rivers guys come to fish, it does make some sense. There's more property there than what I thought. There would be enough room for a building, parking lot, and keep the runway for guiding services to fly in customers. I'm wanting to be positive about this but too good to be true? We'll see.

Why would Cabela's want to build in northern Michigan,B.F.E., the average joe dosen't have a pot to piss in it or a window to throw it out.
