If anyone has any commercially processed venison they'd be willing to donate towards our dinner in Jackson on 9/9, please let me know. We need a total of about 50 lbs. Having this donated will help keep costs down.

Also, if anyone knows a processor who might be willing to donate this, get with me on that.

Thank you!

Just checked the freezer - we have 10 pounds left.

Please let me know if you'd like to swing by and pick it up or if you'd like it dropped off somewhere.

Thanks all..sorry, I should have linked to the other thread.

The dinner is a fund raiser for the dove ban opposition. All the proceeds will go towards that.

JK, I'm not sure where you live..I'm right in Hillsdale, down from the library, but its hard to catch me. Maybe if you wanted, you could drop it by Brad's Appliance? Just let me know and I'll let Brad know, if that would work for you.

Fishjunky, if you want to send me information on where you are, I'll make arrangements to pick it up. I don't need it until sometime around Labor Day, so if I have to, I'll run up there myself.

bstockford@gmail.com is usually the best way to catch me.

Thanks again all!

Sure, that will work fine. Please let him know that I'll be in touch at some point this week.

Thanks for all your help on this. I've been very impressed with the amount of donated help so far.

Although it means more work for me as treasurer.....

Hehe..Dan told me today that he's probably the first person who will ever have to report "dead deer" to the SoS.

:)

I can pick up the stuff in Adrian pretty much whenever is convenient, except tomorrow. I work in Toledo and live in Hillsdale, so I can swing by there whenever..it would be about 5:30 or so. The next few weekends are tough, but I could work something out there, too. Just let me know.

Talked to Brad and you're welcome to drop the meat off there..(Do we know each other?) I'll also drop some tickets to the dinner there.

I checked with Dan and its legal to trade dinner tickets to our deal in Jackson for meat, so if any of you want a pair, let me know.

Thanks all..a lot!

A thought: what about a similar dinner where people donate DOVE breasts to raise money to fight the shooting ban! What great PR for us to be seen eating the game. This could help address the "living target" issue in the public eye.

We considered that, but its expensive to buy and no guarantees on being able to get any donated. I'm going hunting in a couple weeks with brdhunter, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to be able to kill enough for everyone. :)

Barb,
Can I donate any of the birds I take over the week I'm down there? Won't be enough for everyone, but will be something to add. I know you were concerned with it not being commercially processed. As much as I love to eat them, I will be more than happy to donate some to the cause.

We sure could try.

The official stuff has to be commercially processed, since we're technically a political organization and not a non-profit (unbelievable, huh?) Apparently non-profits are more health and safety conscious or something. :)

But nothing is stopping some of us from cooking up something ourselves and offering samples, is there? As long as its not anything being sold, I can't see a problem.

I'll donate all the ones I shoot, too. That ought to feed..well, no one! But I'm looking forward to trying.

Anyone got a good recipe?

I have dozens of recipes. So are you suggesting that we bring the birds all prepared? Not a problem.
