Has anyone dealt with the gun smith at the Taylor Gander Mtn? I have a Remington 30-06 that needs some extensive repair work done on it. I must have put the gun away damp and over the off season it rusted pretty bad. The only other place around me that will do that kind of work is DD Guns in Troy (which is really not around me). Both places will be around the same price so thats not the issue. I just want to make sure I don't spend the $150 to $200 bucks and get a crappy job. I called Cabelas and they don't do it and Michiguns also don't do that kind of work. I only paid $3 for the gun in a raffle so it doesn't hurt so bad to sink a few bucks into it :) Any feed back woill be greatly appreciated.

Take it to D&D. They take in work from other shops locally, and do a great job.

Gander doesn't have hot blue tanks in the store....open flame and noxious odors don't do well in retail environment. They will ship it out of state.

And stop storing guns in their cases.

I'd take it William's in Davison....

Those guy's are second to none...

BTW - Is this an older model 700? If so have you had the "recall" done it?

Burksee, I've heard alot of good things about Williams, I may give them a call. Its a little further than I wanted to go but what the heck. Its a newer model, its probably only 7 years old.
Alpha Male, I know, I know but do to not having a whole lot of space in my house, I do not have a gun cabinet  I may make room now!!!

A little 00 steel wool and oil would take much of it off. I had a spot on my shotgun from last year. It cleaned it right off. Couldnt tell it had been rusted. I dont know how bad yours is but this could help if its not all that bad.

You may be able to Mail the gun (Long guns) to Williams via USPS.
Then you could pick it up in person.
Call them and ask.
