I was wondering what brand of shotgun slug hunters use for deer hunting? Iam thinking about something different this year than remington sluggers. I shoot a Browning A-5 with a Hastings barrel. What do you think?

I shoot A-5 , also with Hastings barrel. Love Lightfield slugs 3". Tried the 3 1/2 s once , blew right through the deer. Went back to the 3". Federal Premiums are good also.

Rifled Barrel I assume? Or Smooth Bore? Every gun likes different loads, even guns from the same manufacturer. The only way to know is buy a bunch and spend a few hours at the range.

Are you sure? The A-5's were/are not capable of handling 3.5" shells. An exit wound is a good thing! And trust me, any 2.75" or 3" slug will exit a deer easily!

my winchester partition golds (2 3/4") hurt bad enough.... 3.5" holy shnit thats just insane.......... unless i'm a sissy;) . swamps right buy a box of each king you like and spend some time at the bench.....the shells will tell you which one your gun likes. man i just can't get over the 3.5" slugs:yikes: :dizzy: must kick like a 50 cal.

Plain old Rem. 2 3/4" foster slugs for my smoothbore.

Nothing compares to the Lightfield 2 3/4 " thru my rifled barrel. She's putting rounds thru the same hole at 100 yards. Blew the bullseye out and thought I was missing the target after that till the guy spotting for me said the hole was getting bigger.

I went through a bunch of different slugs through an 870 with a slug barrel. The cheap Remingon Sluggers actually performed best for me. The Lightfields, Winchester Supremes and other premium loads just wouldn't group. While the Sluggers worked best of the bunch for me they still didn't group well enough for my liking. So this year the 870 will have the 28" barrel and be limited to duck hunting in the marsh. My lower Michigan gun will be a new muzzleloader.
