Howdy-
Apparently some authorities couldn't teel the difference between kenaf, a food plot plant, and good old pot!
Remarkably similar, don't you think? :yikes: :dizzy: :bash: :bash:

oh, yeah, i read about it... a guy planted a mixed crop in some fields in MS and the cops burnt it thinking it was marijuana... kenaf i think it was, never seen it personally, but evidently it looks a lot like weed plants.

sorta kinda looks similar, but LEOs should be able to tell the diff, i mean come on...

I think the LEO's just destroyed the whole field even though there were actually marijuana plants scattered throughout the field. Probably thought it was easier and just more efficient. As I understand that article, I get the impression that the cops knew the difference, but wanted the whole thing destroyed.....I could be wrong though wouldn't be the first!

i don't believe there were any marijuana plants, they just either IDd these incorrectly (which they claim) or didn't give a crap (which i think is more of the truth).

MSU, after reading that article, I think you are 100% correct! I had just skimmed the ESPN article and I saw a quick paragraph from some other news source (I'll try to figure out which source) that was a little vague.
Fish, be careful up in the Sunfield area.....that stuff is grown everywhere up there!

He's just darned lucky they didn't find any Deer-Caine or Buck-Crack.
I hear these deer have an affinity for 'snorting.'
Hail to the PD for taking home the Fookin Moron Award. Now go write a check.
Wonder if his dog is OK???
;)
Would it hurt to ask a few question before destroying the field? It would have saved one man's hard work and the cops the embarrassment of the community learning they're a bunch of fools.

I sure hope there wasn't that big white flower on them at the time. That would be really bad. Yikes.
"Virtually all of the law enforcement officers at the scene ... mistakenly identified the kenaf crop as marijuana. Thus, it was not objectively unreasonable for Sheriff Payne to reach the same conclusions."
What do they mean virtually all. You mean to tell me that someone in the group said no it's not pot, and yet it still got torched?!?!?
That's pretty crazy. And certainly will give that pd a black eye for a very long time.
Now did I miss something or is that guy basically getting the shaft? Is there going to be ANY compensation to him for his plants and or time.

$255,000 in restitution???? did i miss sumthing?? granted it would suck, and they should of known the difference(no buds maybe, but wat do i know :16suspect ) but alot of guys on here have food plots, is that wat it would possibly cost to plant and maintain one of that size??? heck, i didnt get that from my back injury... lol
swamp....
i think u was right in your previous post... here is the last paragraph from that article...
"Court records show an informant reported the crop as marijuana to state narcotics agents and U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration officers. The plants were scattered among other plants, a technique common among marijuana growers, authorities said. "

I did read that, but I didn't catch it the second time. I think the info about the informant was in the other article as well.
Who knows though I guess.
