I don’t know if you guys are sick of “outdoor line up” on Comcast Cable, but I certainly am. OLN just doesn’t cut… a good amount of their shows are Survivor reruns, the Tour de France, or informcials. And now I just received notice from Comcast of the “exciting new channels” they will be adding this fall (a couple of them include):

The Black Family Channel
ART (Arabic Programming)
LOGO (a channel for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people)

Well, I can honestly say these really don’t give me any lift off of my bag. What is wrong with this picture? In a state that has over 750K deer hunters alone, and we get one channel devoted to the outdoors. But thank goodness I’ll get to learn “new techniques” on the LOGO Channel. :16suspect

Anyway, let’s get together and push Comcast to add THE OUTDOOR CHANNEL http://www.outdoorchannel.com/ to their line up. The way this can occur is to follow the link below and put in the necessary address information. From there, request that they add THE OUTDOOR CHANNEL in the subject box.

https://www.comcast.com/Localization/default.asp?referer=/contactus/customerservice.asp

Pass this along to others…

Trademark and I already fired off e-letters to charter communications asking for The Outdoor Channel for the same resons you gave about OLN. Whether they offer it or not, who knows. The best part about The Outdoor Channel is, it is a free add on to any of the CATV networks. Makes one wonder what the holdup is.

I've tried contacting Comcast about getting The Outdoor Channel awhile back. They won't budge, trust me.
Write if ya want but you won't get the response you're looking for.

OLN is a comcast channel. The outdoor channel is not. And yes the outdoor channel is a million times better than OLN. However OLN is either picking up or has picked up the NHL. So you will be able to watch hockey on there anyway.
OLN should be renamed the bullriding and biking channel.

On the Charter system I am connected to, I dont even get the History channel. This would be the only reason to change to a dish, to have a choice.

Or you could just switch to Dish Network and have both OLN and The Outdoor Channel. Channels 152 and 153 along with The Mens Channel, channel 218, which is kind of a Maxim Magazine Television Channel, with about 6 hours of hunting on a day.

The Mens Channel (http://www.menschanneltv.com/mens.php)

Check out the outdoors section, there's a list of all the shows on the left hand side.

Switch to satilite, got tiered of comcast, and there weak programing, one main reason was to get the outdoor channel,,,, i love it, its cheaper more channels and alot more digitel channels, hurt them in the pocket book,, and make them fold up and move the pathetic programing somewhere else..................... ( the gay channel ) lololololololololololololoo:lol:

I've got Comcast in SW Michigan (Niles) and get both Outdoor Channel and OLN. It's a territory thing. Another member on this site lives about 10 miles away from me and doesn't get it (The Outdoor Channel). I'll second (or 3rd, or 4th) the notion that OLN blows. Who in their right mind would run bicycling and bull riding on a channel like that every night at prime time? :dizzy:

HEY...HEY HEY...nothing wrong with Bull Riding.

would rather watch bullriding (prolly cause i tried it for a while and know a bunch of guys that do it) then alot of the other crap they have on there... the infomercials and some of the other "useless" programs for an outdoor channel.... heck, even Tred Barta is better then alot of that "stuff"....

oh, and if ya wanna see some real, upclose bullriding, try the armada fair this friday night at 7pm..... if ya never seen it live and wanna get a "different" perspective on it, go and check it out.... you wont be disappointed... and theres always the vegas and beer tents after..... :evilsmile

Just had something pointed out to me - I've got the digital cable package, and The Outdoor Channel is # 406 or something like that. So... I guess if you just have regular cable you wouldn't get it.

(No offense Doc, but I'm sticking to my guns. Bullriding from 8 to midnight Monday through Friday still sucks... :cheeky-sm )

Sounds like you all spend to much time in front of the TV!

You need to get into some hobbies like Hunting, Fishing, Fly Tying, Camping, Berry or Mushroom pickin or any kinda outdoor sports!

Or hey, if all else fails join a website that promotes "The great outdoors of Michigan!"

Sorry, I just could pass on this one! ;)

Ya I am tired of oln. I'd rather not watch Ron from Ronco, or any bull riding, or Rv today. Another show that i dont really like there is, Flyway highway. That is a pretty dumb show. I wish i got the outdoor chanel. Stupid charter..

I too get both channels here in Muskegon via "Communistcast's" digital cable. The only show I watch on OLN is Tred Barta. I would get the dish, but by the time I add the local channel package the price is the same as with digital cable. I am still waiting for deregulation!

I sent the request to add the Outdoor Channel yesterday. This morning I received some answer that was full of fluff and more crap about corporate junk and customers and whatever....

Here was my next response:

"This was a nice fluffy response to my request. Unfortunately you may not be
realizing the number of hunters and fisherman in our area that are dropping
comcast cable in favor of the satelite systems JUST because they cannot get the Outdoor Channel from you. I frequent some of the Michigan Hunting forum sites and this issue is talked about quite often. You are creating many very unhappy customers because of your refusal to add the Outdoor Channel to your lineup."
They forwarded this to their marketing department. Guess you have to threaten these guys to get a reasonable response.

When I switched from DirecTV to Dish Network I didn't even bother adding the Outdoor Ch. The Mens Ch. seems to have better shows.

Just for grins I went to the Comcast Website and filed my request for The Outdoor Channel. This is their answer to my request and my respose to their answer. Incase it doesn't show, I have zero tolerance for Companies, Groups, or individuals that try to cram stuff down our throats.

Amy,
Comcast Customer Care Specialist,

Cut the B.S., You're not dealing with children here
and many of us know alot more about Serving Customers
than the folks at Comcast that are making decisions.
First, Comcast offers The Outdoor Channel in other
areas of our State. Why not everywhere? Since you are
getting so many inquiries about it, someone there
needs to WAKE UP! Second, your Customers are
complaining about the quality and kind of shows you
are presenting on OLN. OLN, Outdoor Life Network,
Outdoor Life has meant for Millions of families around
the Country, Life experiences Out of Doors. Hunting,
Fishing, Camping and the related activities they
incorporate. So, If you want to keep the Customers you
have, pull in more viewers, and make them happy. Get
the Programming back to where it needs to be. Get
the GARBAGE off of OLN and dump on someother Network,
where it is better suited.

Good news guys, maybe less RONCO and bike riding...

Comcast signed on with the NHL and will be having it on OLN. They picked up the account when ESPN wouldn't...... Hockey I can handle.:)

Until the Mens channel actually gets these shows, it's still the Outdoor channel for me.

Drury (2 shows...and nobody in the business even comes close cept maybe Waddel)
Roadtrips
Primos
NAWtv
Gettin' Close (What can you say...Tiffany!)
Jay Gregory's show

The Outdoor channel currently wins handsdown! When these shows switch, then maybe the Mens Channel will be the top dog.

Too many of todays hunting shows are overrun with informercials for whatever whizz-bang gadget or same old tired camo patternt that they are hawking. This the reason why shows like Tred's are gaining popularity.

I used to like many of the shows that Swamp Monster listed, but they are getting old.

hate to say it swamp. but primos ran a poll this year on there sight and the mens channel crushed all others in viewership
as well did several other hunting shows have run the same polls.

and the rating compaines that do all the show stuff show tha tthhe mens channel has been beating the the outdoor channel in overall viewer ratings
the outdoor channel has run off all the good shows annd beleive me once there contracts are over there will be more comming! trust me on this
