Went out last night and took the camera. Only took a couple of pics of the clover and chicory. Also saw 2 sand hill cranes in my ww. Wonder if they are eating the seeds or the bugs? About 90% of the seed heads are gone.
Here's a close up of the clover and chicory planted last year, end of August.

Here's another shot. It's long and narrow equaling about an acre.

Here's the pic of the cranes coming out of the ww.

Very nice! Your clover and chic plot makes my plots look like Homer Simpson put them in!
Admittedly, I still have much work to do with my local crappy conditions to make them look as nice as yours.

I've been lucky. I have mostly open pasture on this 80 and a lot of it is typical Lake county soil but there's some good spots here and there w/ good soil. I have skipped a lot of steps normally taken for a good food plot and so far I'm happy w/ my results. It's amazing what a little bit of manure and straw can do for the soil.

Our property has very nice big rolling hills and valleys and it's some of the higher land around. Unfortuntely, over the centuries, I think all of our top soils washed off of our hills and left only light sands. Some of the soil only a mile away from us is pretty good. But for the most part, I'd say our clubs overall soil is as bad as anywhere in the area. We'll make the soil in our plots better, but we're starting in last place and with a bad limp. ;)
Our only saving grace is that we're relentless and determined.
