Thinking about perchin' in the am on Saturday - Thoughts of going to Turnaround/Sputnik area...Any recent reports??????

I'm thinking about heading out tomarrow also. Any reports would be great! I think i'm going anyways.LOL!!:lol: I heard Sputnik or Toledo light was doing well.

I have heard mixed results on both - The biggest problem is getting good minnows! We will be heading out of Sterling tomorrow so I doubt I will make the run south to the Toledo Light...

will be heading out for perch also. coming out of brest bay marina. is there anywhere else to get minnows beside state park party store? going to try sputnick first. should be getting there about 8 a.m. if the wife and kid get moving early enough. Jeffs Bait would be another place to try just west of the party store - I am not the biggest fan of Sterling Party Store. If you are coming from the north, you can get off at the exit for Erie Metropark and get some shiners from Bottomline bait and tackkle - they are by far the best bait store in the area...Will also be trying the actual turnaround buoy, while walleye fishing last weekend, we stopped and marked some good perch tight on the bottom....Will be there hopefully by 6:30-7am dunking some minnies...

We did well last weekend both Friday and Saturday out by spudnick ,got our 2 man limit Friday in a hurry , Saturday evning the family and I put 137 in the box , went back out there Wednesday and could only manage 31. I did not like our minnows Wednesday , I'm not sure whether or not that effected our catch ,or they just were not biteing as well , the mark was still good . Thinking about heading down tonight to give it another try . Going to start out by spudnick again .

Larry - I will no doubt put the blame on the minnows! A couple weeks ago, Sterling Party Store could only give us chubs in which we bought a couple dozen to add to the shiners from the day before, we found about 2 dozen live shiners and as soon as we would drop em down, we had a fish on...I am not a fan of those creek chub ugly looking guys! Do you have a ship-2-shore ? If ya do let me know what ch. to hail ya on and whats your calling name...

Had good minnows tonight and could not keep them off , I had great time with my 7 year old tonight . I go by gone fishin on the radio , mostly stay on 68 during the week sometimes scan , weekends to busy for me on erie , I keep the radio off unless there is some one I out . Good luck there out there .

Didn't make it out on Sunday - Our oil regulator pump shot craps on Saturday. Fished Sputnik/turnaround Saturday for about 3 hours and only caught about 40 perch and half of em were under 6 inches. Very slow and decided to head in because of the motor acting funky....Did not seem like anybody was really snapping the perch early Sat AM. Should have just stuck to trolling for eyes as they seemed to be doing decent out in front of the point...

we hit sputnick about 8a.m. saturday. same results, a bunch of dinks. caught about 90 and kept 28. biggest was 11". action was steady untill about 1p.m. then headed toward E bouy. not much happening there, 4 perch in an hour. switched to dragging meat with bottom bouncers off of stoney. 2 undersized walleye and a coupe of buglemouth bass. beautiful day on the water, should have stayed at sputnick, but you wont know unless you try. will be at it again next saturday. got minnows at state park, most were dead by the time we reached sputnick but the perch didnt seem to mind.
