Any body fish Pratt lake in Gladwin County? Is there any good fishing or a campground on this lake? Just trying to find a place for the weekend to camp and fish this weekend with the nephew around the Gladwin County area.

Fished it once in winter with not much luck. Heard there are some big gills in there and pike. All private as far as I know. I think that wiggins which is just around corner a little would be a better choice. Some good gills, crappie and pike there. Plus I hear there are some nice trout in the river coming from lake if you can find spots to fish it. There was a way to get down to beneath dam, but its a tricky dirt road to find your way back. Haven't been there in a few years. Don't know of any campgrounds on either lake.

Lonnie,
I live a few miles from Pratt L. and have fished it for many years A weed killing program in recent years has resulted in VERY poor fishing. In years past Pratt produced nice bluegills, big black crappies, and some dandy bass. It has also been stocked with walleyes. Long story made short is that the fishing there isn't worth the effort. The water jockies will run you over as well. I agree that Wiggins L, about a mile south of Pratt, is a much better opportunity to get into some good panfish etc. There is a curfew(no wake) in the morning and evening so you can fish without being pestered by wakes and noise. The lake has lots of structure and good cabbage weeds. As far as camping, there is Gladwin City Park(full hook-ups and services). It is right on the Cedar River in town, and adjacent to all town shopping. There is no other camping within 10 miles of town.

Boss busted the camping trip this weekend, but might just make a day of it Sunday. If too windy for the bay maybe hit wiggens. Thanks again, Lonnie

My wife is from Gladwin. Her family lives up there. I've fished Pratt & Wiggins both many a time over the years. Never ever really caught much to brag about from either. But yes, there are reported nice catches from them, especially Wiggins. I myself have just never seen those catches, nor experienced them. Public boat launches at both lakes. The campgrounds in town is a relative nice place. Or, it used to be anyway. Haven't been to Gladwin, or on either lake, in a few years now. Only use I ever had for the 'river' was, tubing it, lol.
