I was a little upset after purchasing my hunting licenses yesterday. I purchases a small game license my combo and a private land doe permit and it only came to $46.75. Which I find to be very inexpensive, when I am actually willing to pay $70-$80 for that same combination just because I know that it would be put to good use.

When I first saw your post, I thought it was going to be another wildcat caliber...:p
As far as the $, I dont mind paying it, as long as it is put to good use.

I mean no disrespect but what drugs are you taking. I've never seen anyone wanting to offer more money beyond the actual cost of a service or product. As for good use, I haven't seen the State of Michigan D.N.R. management put money to good use other than thousands of dollars of studies. Just a word of caution you may get what you wish for, just look at other states.

Don't see your problem...you're only half done.
State Waterfowl
Federal Waterfowl
Furbearers
Fall Turkey app/lic.
State Park Tag
ORV sticker
daily draw fees
etcetera ad nauseum
You'll have that $80 bill in no time.... :bonk:

Let's see...the difference between what you paid and what you think you ought to pay is 23.23 - 33.25.
Let's put that money to good use. How about:
An MUCC membership
maybe NRA
Michigan Bow Hunter?
Michigan Gun Owners?
Sportsmens Alliance...etc. etc.....
Not to mention...Michigan Sportsman.com
and If none of those, PM me and I'll send you my address that you can send a check to me at. I'll use it on our own camp up north and I promise it will be use to improve deer habitat.
Other than that, I wouldn't worry about it. Be careful what you wish for...you just may get it and more.

Upset? LMAO Well go ahead and donate that cash to the DNR, I'm sure they have a project going and will gladly take it off your hands. OR, Contact Neal here on the boards. He'll know where a good place for you to send all that money that is causing you such heartache.
Glad yo hear your doing so well, alot aren't. We're paying enough right now thank you very much.

I'm with you Spk! I would gladly pay more!!
With that $46 you can spend quality time in the woods from Sept 15 to March 31st! Thats about 25 cents a day! If some of you DNR haters don't think that is a value.....you'll never be happy anyway!
You can take 3 deer and numerous small game animals with that $46....I'll leave it up to those that think it is too much money to come up with a per pound $$ amount for the game that you can stuff your freezeer with. Good luck matching that value at Save A Lot!
During the long seasons we enjoy here in this state, if your time spent in the field is not worth a measly $46, it's time you look into golf!

Thats good for a laugh anyway! Tell me Sporty, what is the actual cost of the service and product that the State of Michigan is offering? $12? $17.50? When you come up with an answer, feel free to share it with the rest of us! Educate yourself abit about what goes on with our DNR and you see plenty of good use with our money....if that was not the case, there would be no hunting or fishing seasons. We all know gov't is gov't, but you can't really be that nieve?

We do not have the seasons that we have because of the DNR, but rather because of the efforts of many forward thinking citizens and ELECTED officials of our past. If the DNR did "give" us seasons as you seem to believe, then we would be enjoying a Dove season this fall. The citizens of this great state ultimately determine whether we have hunting seasons, not the DNR.
BTW, the DNR offers me NO product or service. I am simply paying for the "right" to hunt the natural resources that belong to the citizens of the State of Michigan. The DNR has been charged with administering that privilege.

Ever think of using that extra money you are willing to pay the DNR, to a person whom can not afford that license? Not only did you give the DNR that money you think they need but you helped someone out to be able to hunt. Oh yea and it makes you feel great! ;)

I think our licenses are a pretty good value and while I can see them being higher, I am glad they aren't right now. With the economy is its present condition I am sure I am not alone in saying that even licenses can be a drain on the pocketbook right now. Even though the licenses are cheap, we all spend a ton more money on the equipment, training, and the hunts themselves.

The DNR sets the lengths and bag limits of our generous seasons.....much of the work they do that you either take for granted or fail to see goes into that. The management and regulation of those resources are why you can hunt today. Who cares if the citizens have given you the "right" as you call it if their were no game animals to hunt. And I disagree with your assumption that it is a right....it is a priviledge, period. And it's a priviledge that can be quickly taken away from you if you make prro decisions in life.
But as always the haters will always have their reasons, well founded or otherwise.

With the price of gas where it is at and all the driving i do during the season, I think the price is good enough. Im jealous that you can say that youd pay more, how about helping a poor college student like me out a little. Throw some of that $$$ my way.:)
