Hi all, I haven't posted in some time. Anyway, I have this float tube that I have used on the Au Sable....(for floating, not fishing).
I have never actually used it for fishing and would love to try it out. Anyone care to help me with this? If nothing else I could be a good source of entertainment! If anyone knows of a good pond to try or if you want to meet me out at Stoney Creek, give me a shout. I found myself a week with nothing to do!!!!

Welcome back Wild. I'm sure someone here can meet you at Stoney and give you some tips.

I use a tube regularly on the Au Sable. Its mainly a transportation tool. My fishing is usually done while standing on the bottom. I also use the tube in small lakes when flipping a fly for 'gills or bass.
One word of caution... make sure the tube is fully inflated. The only time I had a problem (one time and I learned); the tube was under-inflated.
On a river such as the Au Sable, make sure you float during daylight hours the first few times. Night can be somewhat intimidating to some tubers.
I also use "Duck Fins" from BassPro. I do not use the scuba style fins. With duck fins you move forward as opposed to backward. You won't go anywhere fast with these, but they are a great tool for controlling your movement in the river.
You might also want to consider the "inflatable" PFD. Compact and out of the way, but the protection and piece of mind is priceless.
Have fun. I love mine. I am currently on my 3rd tube in 20+ years of using them as a fishing tool.
