just got in from the pond across the street. my son begged me to go fish.he was catching 3-5 inch bluegills with bread and tossing them out with a bobber. the bass were going nuts.they would hit it 3-4 times over and over not 3 feet from shore. big mama's too. i was using a slug go and they were slamming that too.we fished about an hour and a half until the skeeters were too thick. they were biting through the cutters as i was spraying. cutter advanced stinks.we landed 10-12 big bass in the 15 - 18 inch range. i must have lost that many trying to get them over the weeds on 6 pound test.i had one bass attack a bluegill so many times it killed it and would not leave it alone.caught 1 or 2 on a flw spinnerbait, but they really liked that slug.these are fish i planted 5 years ago and they have grown up. i put them in as 10-12 inchers. now they are 3 pounds.nice to see my son want to go fish.next weekend he is going on the heat seeker for salmon. lets see how he handles a wild king.get on them bass . their time is now.

Way to enjoy a resource you gave to that body of water, the challenge will be: the more you hook them, the tougher they will be to catch...Couldn't be a better way to teach youngsters the fair art of bass fishing...

went out 6.30 and by 7 they were turned on again.catch a small bluegill and let it swim arround. bass were demolishing it right on shore. silver shad slug go caught even more.came in at 8.30 cause i was getting tired and bloodied myself from these new owner hooks i bought last winter.gadzooks they are sharp.the bass were slashing and flopping so much it was hard to unhook them. x point their called. first time i used them was tonight and i'm sold.plus my thumb is rough and sore from holding all those bass.

Sounds like the bass don't have enough feed in the pond???????????? Bass "USUALLY" will not feed on gills unless their really really small and extremely hungry and other feed is not available.

Supplemental feeding??????????? Shiners??????

these fish are just mean. i stocked them from a pond i used to fish where the fish had eyes close together and dark skin with tiny black dots. they always fought better than your garden variety cucumber colored bass. i put 55 of them in 4-5-6 years ago.there are big and small gills too. we caught some tonight that were hand sized.i dont know if the perch and walleye survived but i only put in a few wally.perch went in 2 years ago and some this winter from lake st. clair.i had never seen bass do this and my kid told me about it 2 years ago. they will slam a 3-6 inch bluegill over and over 2 feet from shore.anyone else see this?
