Finally, the fishing is picking up around Kellys!

Saturday morning the lake was rough. I planned on going perchin, but thew 2'-4's didn't look real inviting. Saturday evening about 7:00 it calmed down and I took the wife and my 7 and 11 year old boys out to a reef south of the airport on the East side. We trolled chartreuse harnesses and after about 30 minuutes I finally found what I was lookin for ;) . Between 8:15 and 9:00 we pulled in 3 keeper walleye, 3 throwbacks, one 16" white bass, 2 catfish, one 13" yellow perch, several white perch, several smaller white bass and a couple farm animals. Suunday morning, same crew got up at the crack of 9:00 am and hit the water about 9:30 with lines wet by 9:45. We went to the same rockpile AND THE FISH WERE STILL THERE!! By 11:15 we pulled 8 keepers and another nice 12" perch along with misc. throwbacks. all the keepers were 15 1/4"-19" the throwbacks were 9" to 14 7/8". All caught on chartreuse harnesses on the bottom-trolled very, very slow-just fast enougth to turn the blades.

Best part of the whole weekend was that my 7 year old son Steven who up until now didn't like fishing (it made me kinda wonder if he was really mine??). Finally got hooked! He caught 3 of the keeper walleyes all by himself along with a bunch of the other stuff. He caught his first all by himself 'eye last weekend but this really reinforced it. He said "this was the greatest day of my life"!!. AHHHH, music to my ears.....:)

Anyway, for just about everyone else, they had mostly given up on the 'eyes for now and turned to perchin. They have been doing well off Marblehead and also near Middle Island.
