I heard that there were pike on the lake eating baby ducks, so I went around to all the possible pike spots with a propbait- nothing. I then went around with a shiner- nothing. Then I trolled around with a crawler harness- nothing. I have a canoe, so what are some good pike spots and what bait will be best for this time of year? If its a harness, whats better, firetiger blade orange beads or gold blade red beads?

Right in front of the Boyne City boat launch is where I've done the best on pike. There is a point just to the left of the boat launch at the park, from there to the launch is a big deep weed bed, cast spinner baits or husky jerks. Good luck

Horton Bay is mainly a smallmouth and walleye fishery, but that's usually early in the year. If you're looking for walleye this time of year I'd try over by the drop off in front of the power plant at Advance. It drops right off to over 30 ft. and with this hot weather the cooler water is where I'd try first. You may also try the drop off over in front of Young State park, that's usually a decent place to try. For a good local report you can call Tom's Bait and tackle in East Jordon. If you call Dave's in Boyne City you won't get a terribly accurate report, the fish are always biting if you call there.

Thanks for all the info.

One last thing, any good flyfishing spots around here?

The Jordon River can't be beat. There was a little fly fishing shop in East Jordon that should be able to head you in the right direction, they even guided. I haven't been in East Jordon this year yet, but I don't think they folded up shop.
