Well, Just got off the Bay with that light and variable wind, with waves 1 foot or less. But it's reality of course was 10 to 15 MPH sustained wind, with a few 5 footers out near the first spark plug. We trolled for the 4 hour half day from North of the Dumping grounds, along the channel almost to the plug. Caught 4 walleyes, one cat and a sheeper. The walleyes were two dinks and two decent fish of 24 and 24 1/2 inches.

Thanks for the report Dan,,,,I was wondering how the Bay "actually" was over the weekend. I knew saturday was NE winds so I declined to give it a shot. Good job hooking a few in those tough conditions though. Looks like next few days is calling for South and West winds so hopefully bite will pick up out there.

Blackhawk.

I'm starting to wonder just what freaking planet weathermen are from. Or rather they do indeed take the forecast from another planet itself. I have a scheduled fishing trip for tomorrow, so I pulled up the wind/wave forecast. It says for today, winds light and variable, waves 1 foot or less. And the same thing for tonight and tomorrow. Yet I live less than a mile from the Bay and I'm looking at the tops of the trees swinging back and forth at a pretty frequent pace right now. And the wind chimes on my front porch have been pounding out a tune since daylight. I know that we experience some vortex wind effect in the extreme S SW and SE corners of the Bay, because I've seen these effects myself. But the accurate percentage of the forecasts this year have been crap.

Walleye express,
I hope to be on the bay in the morning myself, I sure hope this wind calms down. Where do you launch from? I'm not sure if I'm going to go out of Holyes or the DNR launch at the mouth of the river. First time fishing the bay...any advice for a first timer?

I just confirmed a trip for the Bay with my brother and a couple buddies for tommorrow also. Work is going to have to take the back burner... It's been tough out there last couple weeks. I think we may launch out of Gambils and head for 1&2 to start,,,Pinconning bar may be a choice also. Good Luck guys and will monitor Ch. 68.

Where's Gambils ?

Gambils launch is up M-13 past Linwood to first Road past Deer Acres,,,turn right and head straight to it. (Sorry i forgot name of Road). The channel is shallow so anything over a 18-20ft. boat I wouldn't recommend it.

I sure wouldn't take a 23' our of Gambles unless you want to replace your water pump or something worse....

Capt. Nice meeting you a week or so ago in Linwood. I appreciate the rig you gave me to try out.

As it turns out we landed about a 4.5 lber out towards the shipping channel with it. The only legal fish we caught that morning. Are you still having good success with them or has the inner bay turned to a plastic bite?

On the forcast for yesterday I too noticed the 0-1 wave forcast and Drove clear up to Au Gres from Greenville to see the 5 foot white caps.

I want that job!

Glad the Squid Rig I gave you that morning produced for you. I've had my biggest catches this summer on them. As far as how I determine what I run from day to day, I have a criterior of sorts. If it's going to be a 1/2 day charter and the fishing has been slow, I usually opt for the cranks. That's so I can troll fast and cover as much water in that short period of time for the clients and try to find as many biting fish as I can. If theres pleanty of biters, I'll go meat and scrape the bottom for some bigger fish with the keels/squids or spinners. Especially if the water is flat or 1 foot or less.
