I keep reading anglers raving about Senko Plastics.,

Whats makes them so popular?

do they really perform better than the other brands??

When I say Senko, I mean any stick worm. The Gary Yamamoto Senko is a little softer than most other stick worms and might give a little more action. I buy other worms that are cheaper and I buy the Gary Yamamoto worm for a certain few colors that no one else carries. Any worm rigged wacky seems to do very well. I just purchased special hooks and rings for using the senko rigged wacky and weedless. Don't think the "Senko" is anything special or stands out from the rest of the other baits.

I don't know how anyone can afford real Senkos. They're so expensive. I prefer YUM dingers. If you want real Senkos without the price, buy Kinami Senkos. They're the same bait from the same mold, only they're sold at bigger retailers like Bass Pro.

Senkos do have a little better action than the yum Dingers, but The fish don't seem to mind. I just picked up some Zoom Z-nails (sp?) that look pretty good. At $1.97 for 10 I have to give them a try!

I like Strike King Zero worms as well. I've tried some Gulp! sinking worms... they seem to be very hard and fish don't hold them as long... I like the Yum dingers, and have a bag of Wave Worms but haven't tried them yet. I've not caught anything on my one bag of Poor Boys worms yet either... but haven't fished them much.

But I will say this, fish seem to hold on to the Senko brand longer than most of the others, and I catch more fish on them than any of the others, except maybe for the Strike Kings.

I fish them almost exclusevly whacky. I've tried the split ring method and have found the fish will often simply take the worm out of the ring without ever being hooked. I normally use a 1/0 or a 2/0 wide gap red Gamagatsu hook, but have had trouble finding them lately. I've also had success using a size 2 octopus hook, also in red.

Senkos should be outlawed.
I have yet to find a better more consistant bait.
I have been looking hard and have not found a decent substitute.
Yamamoto charges more $ because he knows he can get it.

kinami baits aren't really cheaper, you only get 7 in a pack as opposed to 10 for the senkos..... winds up being almost the same price per worm.

How do you rig it wacky?

Is it fished differently wacky?

Weighted?

I normaly fish texas rigged and drag it or lift it up and sit...so on...etc...

Whacky means you simply put the hook thru the center of the worm so that it hangs and flops on each end... will look something like this... the J is the hook.

I could snap a picture of you need further explanation.
