Tough! Tough! Tough!
I have never seen such a tough bite as it was the last few days out of AuGres.
There was 121 boats in th tourney and a lot of people that didn't even weigh in or had no fish at all. We ended up with 16th place and only had 7.70 lbs which is by no means a good catch on the bay, but it was good enough for a check. There was only 9 boats with weights over 10 lbs and the top 2 were 21 and 20 lbs. The biggest fish of the tourney was just over 7 lbs.
So how did anyone else fair?
We ended up fishing up norh of Point Lookout near Bouy #5 in 40-55 fow running smelt colored crawler harnesses behind 2oz in-line weights 70' behind the boards. We caught some huge catfish out there also and 1 whitefish.

Fished with LivingLegend and friend and ended up with just under 10 lb.s and a top fifteen finish. We caught our big fish (just over 5 lb.s) in 48 fow and other two came in inner bay(2 lb.ers). Morning was the best and had virtually no strikes after noon. Fished crawlers on inlines and bouncers -fish didn't seem very interested in either. The only thing tougher than the fishing was trying to make the left turn onto Hwy. 23 to head home due to the hot rod parade! Overall had a good time despite the tough conditions.

No doubt about the left hand turn. AuGres was a very busy town this weekend. Great for the local economy though. We were there for a few days had a great time. My 8 year old said his arms were still sore today from reeling in all of those big cats.

Ended up with a big fat goose egg. We fished hard all day. But could not catch a walleye. Did bring home a 12 pound brown for the grill...yum..yum. I am taking some friends of the family out this thursday. Anyone got ideas of where to fish? I feel dumb founded. I figured I could atleast catch some small walleye. Big cats, sheeps, and white bass were biting good. Ran crawlers all day. I fished all the way from whitestone south to pinn. bar...nothing :o

I had a good time at the tour but the best part is being with good friends. We got all out fish in the interbay we only got two under size fish. But being a tournament fisherman I let my friends down a little bit, I made a mistake I should of went to inlines weights and took off the bottom bouncers after catching two fish both over 2 lb in less then two min we should off change right then but some times we for get to pay attention to detail thats the only mistake I think I made, we could of placed even higher I'm sure of it.I guess there's the next tournament.
