OK - First off - let me say that I only have met two folks from M-S.com Thunderhead & now Wally-eye , and I want to state that BOTH are great people & world-class company ! I hope eveybody here is like that!
How's THIS for a fishin' partner?
I told Dan to come by @ 5:30AM , he shows up @ 5:10AM ready to rock , We take his beautiful rig....

We launched in total darkness well before 6AM!
He would NOT accept ANY gas or bait money & then puts me thru the pain of carving up 61 fish!!

We exchanged some pretty funny & interesting stories thru-out the day , during the peaks & lulls in the action , then asks me at the end of the day~ "when we goin' walleye fishin' "?
He's a super guy & I'd recommend anyone to charter his boat (nudge , nudge , wink , wink!) for a great time!
He's a skillful angler that understands boat control , location & presentation are what makes the livewell fill up. I was indeed impressed.

A 12" & 13" bandit....

So here's the HawG of the day - up close....
All 13" of it...;)

Dan knew I was going out today too- to finish off my crispy-critter "tan"...
Sorry I didn't have time to post sooner - I've had 8 Hrs. sleep the in the past two days. (been "workin"!)
Life seems to give back what you give , so after Dan's most gracious treatment - I decided that I'd give ALL of today's catch (07-30-2005) to the 'HiLLBiLLY'... A friend I work with .
http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/photopost/data/529/75_Perch_1_SpeC_1507.jpg

We caught 75 Perch (11" being the largest) & 1-11" SpeC today (he also lost what looked like a HUGE 'eYe that struck a perch minnow) !!!!
http://www.michigan-sportsman.com/photopost/data/529/K00TeR_1504.jpg
Kirk (HiLLBiLLY) got himself a pile of fish for the family - I also told him that he owed me nothing... I hope he also enjoyed himself this weekend.
The back of our boat says "Perch Pirates" and it's clear that both Dan and Kirk have got a black eye-patch hidden in their tackle boxes!!
They both really whacked those old yellow bellies HARD!!!

Hey Robert I'm glad you finally posted pic's of that hog perch....

I tried to stir the pot up a little with some teasing keeping everyone on the edge of their seats waiting to see if there really was a hog perch. I can assure everyone that the picture of that 13 inch perch doesn't do it justice. I was more impressed in the girth/weight of the fish as much as the length.... all that on 2 lb. line and YOUR secret weapon.........WOW is all I can say.

I wish to thank you for a most enjoyable day. It is fun to fish with someone that knows what fishing is all about and has it down to a science.

I can assume that your trip today was in the same location. After looking at my lake map I can see why that tiny little piece of lake did what it did... that tiny little spot is the bomb.

I also want to say to any member that if they ever get a chance to fish with a pro look up sfw1960 cus he is the MAN..........

And I am making plans to take you eye fishing on Freekmont soon.........I just hope that I can be as prolific as you are cus you have set the bar HIGH......

Again thanks for a most enjoyable day. And keep em coming.............

I promised Robert (sfw1960) that I wouldn't give his secret spot out. All I will say is that it is on the Muskegon River, which is all the more specific I can get.

oh muskegon is too far away. I fish around flint and genesee county during spring and summer (mainly buell lake and mott res. But sometimes make my way up to sebewaing or the port....
During the fall we fish the muskegon, closer to hougton.. get get nice hammerhandels and large mouth bass..... Josh
PS are you guys close to the houghton lake area?

Awesome story and awesome pics!! Compared to the rinky-dinks I've been seeing lately, that 13"er is a freaking monster!!!

Also, great show of sportsmanship on both of your parts. Way to go guys!!

Thanks to everyone for all the kind words of encouragement to go kick some more Y.P. butt.....
Keep blasting them GF(LARRY)!!
Anyone who's followed some of my recent threads will know what body of water we were on....it ain't really rocket science... is it???
Note to Dan:
You know why we did as well as we did - B/C you are a skillful & knowledgeable angler who sees the spot on the spot , when you look @ a map of the place.....

The mark of THE MAN!

I don't think I set the bar "HIGH" , I just think God gave us an enjoyable day together doing what we love to do. (FISH)
I had not gotten any particularly large perch until you took me in the S.S. Wally-EyE !! It's the only explanation I have ....
;)
(P.S. anyone who thinks I am a religious frEEk , just ask Dan - I got a purdy good sailor-mouth on me , especially when I have a decent fish on & I'm squealin' like a school girl!! ~ LMAO)
You callin' me a "pro"?? Now you have stirred the pot! AND set the bar HIGH!
I guess I just set myself up for a hiney whippin' next time out!!
:bash:
From what I'm seeing it sure looks like the glory days of great perch harvests are on the upswing again , like say ... about ten years ago.
The doggone WX turned hot & nasty again , so You & I are gunna hafta wait until the next cool-down , but I wanna go Whack 'Em & Stack 'Em again soon!!
Say the word buddy!!!

You are right about the weather, hotter than blazes. Too hot for my delicate skin.....you'll have to hold an umbrella over my head to keep the sun off me.

Still working on that eye excursion and watching the weather. Todays weatherman said that JUST THIS WEEK we will lose 15 minutes of daylight. Its starting already........have to get busy soon and stock the larder.......

I still can't believe you stuck a knife in that hog perch. It would have been beautiful on the wall mounted on a piece of driftwood........WITH A RING IN HIS NOSE.

I'm still cleaning up minnies from my boat...........needs a good cleaning just too hot right now......
A guarandamnteed eye trip is in the works...........

You're too FUNNY Dan!
I wonder if I can get a graphite replica (WITH a ring in it's nose!) made??
hehehe!!!!
I told ya I was gunna mount that sucker in a fryin' pan , and I wasn't fibbin'!!
The fillets look JUST like a SmaLLeYe fillet , with a ring in one end of 'em...LMAO!
Sailor asked me in a PM a while ago if I ever fished up by the dam on the big side (in the fall) B/C I guess they migrate upstream , and from what garnered when I talked with a guy at work who HAS fished near the dam in the fall said the fishin' is just plain STUPID.
Same thing though - I bet ya gotta "come early , come ugly" - JUST LIKE the A10 we saw. ;)
Does the fall sun tear you up as bad?? (on the days when you CAN wear short sleeves)
Next Friday looks cooler....
I'm outta commision the weekend of the 13th & 14th - IHRA Northern Nationals is comin' to Martin - time to SNiFF thE NiTR0 & Hang out with my Wife's bestest buddy , Clay Millican (http://ihra.com/profile/topfuel/clay_millican.html) , 4X TF Champ!!!!!!!!

Its just the medicine I have to take. Only been taking it for a month. Doc warned me about direct sunlight. I think it was just the fact that I did 2 days in a row of it. Seem to be alright now. Was out in sun yesterday mowing and feel fine today.............

Just waiting for the weather to break a while AND just talked to a guy that has been getting eyes on MY lake at 24 fow down over 30 to 40fow. Funny thing he said don't get up early cus they don't bite till around 1 or 2PM in the afternoon, at that depth anyways. He got 3 yesterday in 3 hours.............20 inchers.

Said he was right in the middle of water skiers and jet skis when he caught them. At that depth they didn't care what was over them............:fish: :fish:
