rabbit and pheasant..
mostly rabbit cause they are so plentiful.. don't like squirrel as much cause they're such a pain to clean - the rabbits are so easy.
fun hunting, good exercise, and plenty of shooting - who wouldn't like that?

I use to hunt tree rats a lot, but now that I've gotten more into bow hunting whitetails, I don't like to disturb the woods early on, nor spend time hunting squirrels while bow season is occuring. I generally wait till a warm winter day before I give it a shot. As mentioned though - they are one of the least enjoyable species to process.
RABBITS though - I am all about those! :D
A couple of buddies and me spend a great deal of time stopping through the snow after deer season has concluded. Unfortionately this year we lost one of our better spots to a new home owner building on the site. :(
If we happen on the occasionaly pheasent or grouse and they are in season, they are game as well, but there aren't enough around to devote efforts to searching them out, nor to I honestly want to see them all shot either - just 1-2 a year is all I can see simply because there aren't that many around. :(

Grouse and woodcock mostly for me. Although last year I didn't even buy a license. Just too darn busy all the time. I will get out though this year. Not a very good population of either up this way though. So the norm is typically to get skunked. Which is ok too, always love any reason to be in the bush in the fall.

Me and my english setter like to go after grouse and woodcock. Last year first time out we flushed 21 grouse and 11 woodcock. He had over 20 good solid points !!! Now I just need to learn to shoot, I only got 2 of the grouse. Woodcock was still closed so no shooting at them, but for some reason I can hit them way better than pats.:dizzy:

Squirrel, Rabbits. Mostly go out to scout for deer but nice to have a gun in hand, do most Sept 15- Duck opener. Then start again once Duck and Deer is closed when not out on the ice wetting a line.

Just absolutely love grouse hunting. Haven't gone for a couple of years because of a torn up knee and busted ankle (see avatar). I plan on getting back to it this year though.
Bowhunting seems to really get in the way of small game, but I may change that tactic and wait to bowhunt in late October and November, while upping my small game time in the earlier October time. Too hot to hang a deer then anyway and not much rutting going on.
Looking forward to the pats this year

I like to go after squirrel and rabbit, although I've only been successful in squirrel hunting so far. This year, I'm planning on focussing on Grouse in the early season, but with no dog, we'll see how well I do. Like most of the other people here, I just like to get out into the field and enjoy nature. If I harvest game, that's an added bonus.
What's everyone complaining about dressing out a squirrel for? The one that I took last season didn't seem to be all that hard to clean, other than being tougher-skinned than I expected.

I like a mixed bag. So, anything I find I take.;)
I hunt rabbits with a Beagle. But my real small game passion is squirrel hunting with my MT. Cur squirrel dog.

I'll kick up the brush after deer season for rabbit. Don't have a dog, but my son has enough energy to kick up the brush and flush a couple out.

I hunt a variety of small game but rabbits are my favorite. There is nothing like walking the railroad tracks behind the house with a few buddies going through a couple boxes of shells.

Doves!!!!
I look more forward to Sept. 1 (I go to Indiana each year) than I do to Nov. 15th.
When we defeat the anti's referendum in 06 and win a state wide season everyone will get a chance to experience what Michigan sportsmen have been missing out on.
The action is fantastic! What else can you go through 2 - 3 boxes of shells in a season, let alone an afternoon hunt. The meat is as good or better than anything other game bird or animal we harvest. Doves are everywhere in the state and it should not be a problem finding a spot to hunt.
I can't wait until all of you have an opportunity to find out for yourselves!!!

Rabbits,
I have a 3 year old beagle and it's been fun chasing rabbits the past 2 seasons with her. I'm ready to chase them again this winter. Both of us are still learning how to do this rabbit hunting behind a beagle.
Sometimes she gives me looks like 'Hey dummy" your in the wrong spot to get a shot!

Last year was the first year in many years I small game hunted. I shot a few squirls with the bow and my grandpas .22, and then late season I hunted rabbits. I got a few of those with the 20 gauge. It was so much fun and I forgot how good those bunnies are. I cant wait for this year to get out and hunt some squirls again.
The main reason I started again was becouse my nephew turned 12 in Jan so he was able to get out and hunt. He didnt get anything but came clsoe a few times. This year he wil get something.
My dad is thinking of getting a beagle to hunt rabbits with this year. Hope he does! :)

While bowhunting for deer is cool, I just haven't come to enjoy it as much as I thought I would. So, after a few frustrating seasons of deer, I have decided to make 2005 the year of pure fun = small game hunting.
I plan to almost exclusively hunt squirrel and rabbit this fall with my recurve. Now, I can't wait for Sept. 15!
