i'm afraid I have bad news. My great uncle, Marv Steffens, has just been pulled off of his respirator and its only a matter of time before he will be in a better place. He served in Europe during the great war then came back and worked at the family lumberyard in Frasier. When that was sold, he became a cattle farmer up north. He was an avid grouse and deer hunter, and an excellent shot, often going 99/100 in skeet when he was in his prime. He had a stroke a few years ago and has been struggling since then. He will be greatly missed at our family deer camp this fall, but i know we are all taking comfort in knowing that his suffering will soon be over, and he can once again walk the woods he loved so much.

Howdy, schopie4-

My most sincere condolences.

It sounds like he was much loved and well respected.

I pray the end is swift and painless for all concerned.

I empathize with what you're going through. Several years ago, my uncle, who served in the Pacific theater as a Marine, passed away after a lingering battle with the complications of a stroke.

I hope that your uncle's passing will be swift and painless, and that your family's grief at his passing will be comforted by all of the good memories of your uncle and his deeds, as well as God's grace and love for us all.

My condolences and thanks for your uncle's service to our country in WWII. Always loved to meet an oldtimer to hear stories about the old days.

My condolences too man. Just think he is probably staring down the sights at a 12 pointer right now.

Thanks for all of your support guys. I know he is still up at the property pulling his practical jokes. The morning after he died, there were two orange streaks in the sky over our property that we beleive were my uncle and his brother. The reason that we know he is there is because that same day, our well stopped working, and our tractors front axle broke in half. He always liked a good joke. About a week after his brother lowell died, a tornado went through our property and we know it was lowell visiting again because the tornado headed towards the cabins, picked up off the ground before it got to them, then touched down again on the other side of them. Maybe he'll send a few bucks my way this year

So sorry for your and your family's loss. We lost my Dad, my best huntin' buddy in early April. It's been a tough summer. He was in WWII also, and was seriously wounded there. The world is an emptier and sadder place without them. But yes, they're in 'the best huntin' woods and fields' now .... without the pain.

My thoughts and prayers are with you. And thanks to them and all the vets that gave so that we may be free. Peace.
