I'm sure most fisherman are familiar with this "humorous", yet seemingly and frighteningly real axiom stating that if something could potentially go wrong, it will. Well, I think my favor in the eyes of the Fishing Gods has abrubtly run out.
I was quite optimistic about fishing Reeds Lake early, before the sun rose. Disaster #1: Father's alarm fails to go off. We wake up a full hour after we intended to. No sunrise. No beating the crowd.
Well, we finally get to the launch, get the boat loaded up and ready to deploy. The second of pulls on the cord to test-rev the motor proved catastrophic: for the third time in one week, the cord snaps. It looks like we will be restringing the cord for every single engine pull. Doable, but extremely inconvenient and time wasting.
Now, here comes the kicker. Last night, I pulled the plug on the boat to drain the rainwater that had collected over the last few days. Guess what is sitting on the porch. "Oh... my... dad.... uhhhh.. I left the plug at home."
Thirty-five minutes later, we are on the water fishing. After a rather unsuccessful morning, I'd like to be on my way as soon as possible, but Mr. Murphy begs to differ. Arriving at the launch, we were the next in line to take our boat out of the water. Somehow, we ended up third, through no intentional fault of any other launch users. Mainly due to very poor launch planning. Yes, all you Grand Rapidians/Reeds Lake commoners know what I'm talking about. We ended up waiting about twenty minutes, and this is at 11:30 on a weekday, mind you.
Just another one of those days. But I digress, for I greatly enjoy fishing.:fish:
Anyone else ever feel like this?
