I am wondering if anyone has information on a cottage/cabin rental they know
of or have used/recommend for a week's stay on S. Lake Leelanau ? My family is
thinking of spending a week there next summer. Thanks......

Depending on your price range, Rustic Resort, located on the SW side of the lake roughly five miles north of the town of Cedar and 8 (or so miles) south of the town of Lake Leelenau has some pretty upscale "cottages"; i.e., most of them larger than an average 3 bedroom ranch home, with corresponding rental prices (1.5k - 2.5k per week, during summer). They are immaculately clean, very nicely furnished, come with a rowboat and all kitchen appliances and tableware. You need to bring sheets, pillowcases and food. You can also bring your own boat. I do not have the phone# offhand, but if you Google it, I think you will be able to locate it.
If that is in your price range, you will love the setting.....close to some of the best fishing in the lake, decent swimming area and a nice combination of sun and shade on the grounds. We have stayed there for 8 of the 10 past summers and would be there again this year, if not for some sudden increase in expenses (see my signature line)
Hope this helps,
Dave

i know that there is a beach house that I THINK may be rented out during the summer...not sure though, same side of the lake that the Cedar River flows into it...

Garvin Cottages are located on the South End of the lake. They are cheaper than Rustic, but nice. Also located near the town of Cedar.

Garvins are good, clean, cheap, about 45-75 a night depending on when you go, plus dock for your boat, but if you want to "WHOOP IT UP" you might want to find something else. They run a tight and pretty quiet ship there. They also have a fish cleaning area, basically a bench and hose, and the owner takes the ofal away everynight
