Has any one done one of these trips? The wife, 2 kids and I are headed down in September to a place called Hendrick's Creek Resort. Any tips, especially fishing, would be greatly appreciated.

"They claim to have the World Record Smallmouth (10# 8oz), plus largemouth bass, scrappy bluegills or big Walleye, the evasive Muskie (State Record 43 lb., 53: caught here during ‘78), white bass, Kentucky bass and rainbow trout. You can troll, cast, trout line, drift fish or just plain ol’lazy still fish with a cane pole. On one of our houseboats even Mom will go night fishin’ for crappie or white bass under lanterns off the back deck. "

I am pretty sure Tangleknot has, though perhaps not that particular resort.

i went once as a kid ... great time to be had.... fishing there for smallies is excellent, however, in the dog days of summer the fish will be deep.... it will be lots of fun for the family.

check out the forums at www.indianasmallmouth.com (http://www.indianasmallmouth.com)... they have an up-to-date lake report for dale hollow and several members who share/own a cabin on the lake. you will have to register to get on.

Just got back from a house boat trip on Lake Cumberland. This was my second houseboat trip in the last 6 years. I would do another one for sure. They are a great time.

As for fishing we did not do much but what we did do was mainly trolling. We set up for stripers one day but had no luck. It was hot and the water was very warm. When we did fish we always caught something. Usually largemouths or bluegills.

It sure sounds like a lot of fun. I look forward to your report when you get back. Sounds like the kind of trip I might plan for my family...

Went a few years back on Dale Hollow. Great trip. I remember the water being really warm. Didnt fish for much anything besides panfish in all the coves. I would like to do it again.
