I am looking into getting a new sight but am wondering what to get. Anybody have any Pros/Cons on any of their sights or any other model they would recommend? For example: I like the Trophy Ridge but the fiber optic cable that attaches to the pin is on the top of the sight guard. This seems like the area that gets the most abuse on a sight. Also the vertical pin thing has me nervous. What are other hunters using and why?

Yes, I have just upgraded my sight to the new Viper Pro sight. It has 7.5" of true glo fiber optic which is run through the sight dove tail, so it is well protected. It also has a 3rd axis which is helpfull for shoot up hill or from a treestand, it makes sure everything is level. But most of all the it has .029 pins very hard to find a high quilty sight. These size pins seam to help locate them faster in the woods. But any sight will work it just depends on how much you want to spend and the quilty of sight you want. You may want to chech on e-bay if find one that you real like.

Hope this helps,

I have been shooting a HHA optimizer 5000. I used to shoot a three pin sight and decided to try this one out and am glad I did. The sight is well built and can be fine tuned easily. A Little pricey, somewhere around $90.00 but I think well worth it.

Seems like there are many more good sights on the market then there used to be. Good Luck.

Try anything from vital bow gear.

It works awesome

my brother works at Jay's in Clare and that is what most of the guys there shoot.

Try the Vital Bow Gear Trapper. It is very well built, super bright, very light weight. I have shot the Trophy Ridge Matrix for the last 3 years and the Trapper blows it away hands down. Check out the all green option.

I too shoot an HHA Optimizer, it is very accurate and eliminates torque with the two pin desing, but mine is very noisy. Do you have noise propblems with yours Finlander?

I also, along with three others (friends, and family) shoot the HHA Optimizer, They work really well. We have no noise issues with ours.

The optimizer is awesome. I shot a BSA Red dot today for the first time and ill tell ya scopes are awesome(takes a little bit to get use to.)

I also seen a few guys use the trophy ridge pin sight but for how much that is you could get a scope sight mounted for that much.

I just switched to an Impact Archery sight with a .020 pin. All I can say is WOW!! Last night on the last 5 targets, as the storm came in, it was dark. Most of the shooters hung it up because they could not see their pins. My setup with a noPEEP and the Impact Archery sight were no problem. Hardest part was determining where to put the pin. On bear targets in the dark, it is impossible to see the rings, even with 10x binocs.

I picked up a Cobra Sidewinder last year and was very happy with it. It stays bright, (but not so bright it blinds you) in the low light conditions. No batterys or lights to turn on, just 2 feet of fiber optics. I was a little worried at first about the glass window around the fiber optics giving off a shine, but so far so good.

I picked up a Viper Predator Pro sight this spring and LOVE IT !

I use all .029 pins and they are very very very bright on this sight without a light. The fiber optic line runs up the the dove tail mount to give about 7 1/2" of fiber optic cable. I have shot this sight in heavy shadows, bright clear skies and heavy rain...each shot the pins were easily seen.

This sight also let you add magnification lens/glass if desired. I find the 2X glass great for every day shooting. For those into leagues/competition you can go upto a 6X glass.

Yukon,

I havn't experienced any extraordinary noise at all. My buddy did and had to add a mini rubber washer to dampen the sound. I have heard HHA's customer service is awesome. Maybe you can contact them, and ask if they had a bad batch of sights. Heck maybe they will send you a new sight. You never know.

I love my trophy ridge sight. i highly recommend a vertical pin. much more field of view available.

also, Eradicator sights are real cool. they give the feel of shooting a rifle with open sights, so no peep is needed.

Also, you could try instinctive... it's a blast, fun, and challenging.

I shoot the Trophy Ridge Matrix 3 pin... I love the design but hate the quality... The entire sight is plastic, everything but the mount for the riser anyway... I bought 2 TR matrix sights and had to switch parts from one to the other to get the thing level... Called Trophy ridge and they sent me 2 new sights so now I have 4 matrix sights... LOL .... I just can't see paying a hundred plus dollars for plastic... The Vital Bow Gear stuff looks nice... The trapper looks pretty kewl...

I agree with you on the Trophy Ridge sight. I went and checked one out and was dissappointed in the quality of the sight. I didn't expect the sight to be made mostly of plastic. The pins on the one in store were not even lined up. I'll check out the other mentioned sights. Thanks for everyones input.

I switched to a single pin sight last year....my bow shoots pretty flat and I usually limit my shots to 30 yds. Impact Archery pins are very bright and the craftsmanship is good. I was using a Dead Nuts 3-pin prior which was a good sight, just a little more then I needed.
