Any reports? I am headed up there next week and am a little worried about the Mayfly/Hex hatch. I would like to get into some walleye. Thanks for any info.

Launched from Raber Bay last Saturday morning (first time there). It was 45 degrees at 6:00 am before we launched; 85 degrees when we gave up at 12:30 pm. Fished the spoils areas south of Neebish Is., Lime Is. and the shipping channel inbetween. Marked lots of fish, but never had a hit. The entire water surface was covered with Mayflies. When we finally got a little bit of a breeze, there were little scum lines of them everywhere. Had to bring the boards in and clean off the lines every 15 minutes , along with some suspended weeds. Saw only one fish netted all day. It looked as if most fishermen were slow trolling bottom bouncers without planer boards. We probably should have switched over to that, to help keep the lines more clear of debris.

Would love to go back there again to redeem myself, but I can tell you I won't be back in early to mid July. Supposedly they were doing pretty well the week before we got there.

The MWT is on the St. Mary's, I think lauching out of the Soo this Saturday.

JJ Mac,
Thanks for the reply. I was afraid of the hatch would be putting the breaks on things. I am heading up on Friday and will be there for a week. Hopefully, the hatch has about run its course. I hate that when people say haow great the fishing was the week before.
