I went out fishing Sunday and at the last minute, I decided to shoot carp. I went out in the marshes. Holly crap it was some of the most fun that I’ve had in a long time. The water was about 2-3 feet deep and clear. They would just be sitting on the bottom as I floated by. It got to the point that I could just pick and choose so I started shooting at the gars. Talking about hard to hit but I did get a few. In the end my boat smelled like fish and so did I.

were you shooting Lake Erie?

We shoot Lake Erie alot out of Lake Erie Metropark, always looking for new spots to shoot at night.

Sounds like a good time. I need to get out there.
Most people apparently use the remains for fertilizer. But there is no doubt that people leave them behind to rot along the shores as well.

How many are you allowed to shoot in any given day.

Ddolph across the way at the island.

One thing for sure you hook up to one of those cows and they start pulling your boat across the lake.

As for the quality, correct me if I’m wrong but if you look on the back of your boat, you will find a plate that states the total weight designed for that boat. Take that number and minus yourself in weight and start filling her up until you hit that posted number.

Lawnboy, if you want to try a night shoot, send me an email and you can hook up with us one night. This was our last shoot!
Went out Saturday night to test out the boat. Dan's buddy Matt fixed the transom, rewired the boat and built a new steering column box. Looks good and everything works except now the trailer lights are not working right. So we will have to rewire the trailer.
We launched the boat about 9:30 and headed out to the reef. The bugs were hitting us like rain drops on the way out and it only got worse when we turned the lights on. The back cove was full of weeds in fact we ran into so many weeds all night that the trolling motor batteries ran out of power before we ran out of battery power for the lights. But we could live with the weeds, however the bugs were a whole another story. There were zillions of them, so many at times that the light reflected off their wings and made it impossible to see the fish in the water. One of the problems was that there was no wind at all, dead calm. So we chose to turn on the motor and ran around the area trying to find fish without so many bugs. Everyone was wearing headnets but the bugs were still driving us crazy until about midnight then they calmed down. But even with the annoying bugs we shot fish. A few big carp and lots of Gar. In fact Vic shot one of the biggest Gar we have seen. Everybody shot fish and we filled a barrel up for Scott to use for Bear bait. Over all a very fun and successful night.

Belvidere bay was full of breaching carp Sunday morning. Just after dawn I could see 8 or 9 big ones sucking bugs off the surface at a time.
