Well, time for a new bow. I have read alot of threads on here, and I know alot of people love the Matthews, and they certainly are nice.
here is the thing, friend of a friend works at a shop, and can get me a good deal on a bow, specificaly (sp.) a parker bow. any comments, pro or con on these bows would be appreciated.

Nice bows. I would stick with one of the Phoenix models.

Awesome bows, The Phoenix is a good shooter, great customer service as well. Feel a bit heavy when outfitted.

I love mine! With all the stuff added to it, I think it weighs about 3.5 lbs. Very happy with it!

Just bought a parker extreme hunter mag, I LOVE IT. very quiet, consistent and light. The phoenix is a nice bow as well, but i chose mine based on price and what it offered. If your looking at price, mine was $200 less than the phoenix (i paid $399) and as far speed goes the extreme hunter mag shoots 8fps less than the top end phoenix. One last thing if you do go with parker DO NOT buy it at a retail store, get it from an ARCHERY shop. The shop will insure the bow is right before it leaves there shop. Good luck

I shoot is the Parker ez draw, I like it because it is real smooth, and I can hold it back all day if I have too. Shoots great for me. My dad shoots a Parker hunter mag and says its the best bow he's ever owned, but prior to the hunter mag, he hadn't had a new bow since the late 80's.

I recieved my Parker from an employee purchase program at one of thier dealers. The price was too good to pass up, so I bought it, not knowing much about Parker (or anything else archery-related, for that matter, as this is my first bow)
I faxed in my order sheet on Saturday for a 34", 70# Phoenix Outfitter. The bow arrived Wednesday via UPS :yikes: . How is that for fast customer service?
Anyway, I took the bow in to my place of employment, where we have a very accomplished ASA 3d shooter working in the archery department. We adjusted the draw length to 28", and I went at it. I liked it, but since I had no frame of reference (first bow and all), my buddy the ASA-shooter went ahead and tried it. He liked it also, so I think that's a good sign.
Anyway, the bow is now set up at 62#, 28" draw. It shoots a 350gr Carbon Express Maxima at 245fps (is that a little slow? It seems like it to me. This chrono has been known to be erroneous in the past).
That's my two pennies...
