Well , this was the first time I had to Launch a boat since about1982....Also my first time handlinning by myself....also a river I have only fished once.....All went well...got the boat in .....didn't know where the heck I was going.....River rat gave me a tip to fish one area close to the ramp....fished where I thought he was refering...nothing...did not mark anything....moved to the other side of the river..close to stag Island.........Fished from 6:00am - 8:30am picked up 5 walleyes with 1 accidental throw back  :yikes: made the mistake of trying to avoid a tangle and lifting the walleye back to the outside of the boat...and off she popped! :bash: All in all...a good first experiance for me...got the nerves settled about the boat and my rookie outing.....I need to go with the proffesionals a couple more times to hone the art!! But as Shadow says...."Handlinning...A new begginning".......thanks smiley and gary for getting me off to a good start in this venture!! ;)

I knew when you said you were going to maysville I new you were going to do well.. If you fish north end of Stag and you follow the drop off you will do well, all you have to do is get in line with all the other hanliners..
one night watch from the shore line at Chrysler beach and you can see there routine.. Cya Slick

I guess its a easy choice handlining when we (I) rod & reel guys struggle to bring home a meal. Don told me you had 3 in the box before 7 am. I gave it a shot out at # 30 & caught 2, but they were not big enough to put in my box to comply. My buddy Pete is supposed to take me out river rattin one night this week. He got a charge when I told him about the all star game fishing ban.
I will be fishing in earnest this week to try to gain a meal...LOL!
Congrats on your maiden voyage...
