Well my dads boat been in the shop with motor work, and i have no way to get on the water besides my jetski. So I need to get some advice on shore fishing. What should i use for bait, and where should I go? I would like to keep it local, so the marine city/algonac area. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot Brian;)

Hey Brian, Most guy's and gal's are out fish'n, camp'n and what not for the long weekend. I don't think you'll be getting much advise till later today or tommorow. Wish I could help but I'm not familiar with fishing that area, sorry.........

I have seen this done from shore on the St. Clair River but it is something that I have not tried yet myself. But, it does seem to make sense.
Attach a heavy sinker to the end of the line. Put a split shot on about 1 to 2 feet up. Toss line out into the current and reel in enough to keep line tight.
A long leader has snaps at each end. On one end attach a lure. Attach the other end to the line coming off the rod and close the snap. Allow the current to carry the leader down till it is stopped by the split shot. The lure will work back and forth in the current.
Use pencil plugs at night and Rapalas or other body baits during the day.

Well, not everyone. <<grinning>> It is raining pretty good on the west and northern part of the state so I think some of the campers are getting soaked and will be hitting the roads before long, if they have not already done so.
I would think that White Cloud and the Hesperia area probably got about an inch so far today.

Now is this picture correct? Do I just let the leade slip on the sline between the splitshot and the sinker? Thanks for the idea.

Yup. That'll work. Most use three way swivels about 18 - 24" up from the sinker. I also use a bobber stopper for a slider when fishing the wall up Port Huron way. Sinker weights are gonna vary as you fish down the river more.

I hope to make it out and try a little wall fishing (haven't done it in a few years) one night this week. I was planning on trying the same sort of set-up, and casting jigs w/ the second rod. I hope to hit the Algonac/Marine city area also. Hope my longest handled net will be ok from the wall if I am lucky enough to get a decent fish or two. It is only about 8-9', might be a problem. What weight jigs would be good for casting in the Algonac area??
