I went to muskegon lake sunday and couldn't keep the catfish and sheephead off my line. We moved once cause in the none stop trash. we thought the walleyes might be bittin too but weren't any there. at one point we had two catfish and one sheephead on at the same time with two people. all of the cats were from 20 to 27 inches and the sheephead about the same. anyone else having fun out there????

"Trashkegon Lake". Yep, baa fish galore. Kind of scared to even eat an eye from that lake. I do but not very often..........

I'd be plenty happy catching sheephead and catfish. They fight better than any bass or walleye.

I thought ALL fish out of Muskegan were "trash fish".
I have seen some huge.....dead fish in that lake. In one day I saw 2 GINORMUS smallies, 5-6#s easy, 2 HUGE Walleye upper 20"s All the fish had funky white fuzzy spots on them.
I personally wouldn't eat anything out of that lake. I wouldn't be surprised if somebody has already pulled a 3 eyed fish, named "blinky" from those waters.

A few years back, someone caught a pirana in Muskegon Lake.:yikes: Makes you think twice about skinnydipping.

I've heard of some huge dogfish in Muskegon Lake too. I'd love to catch one just to say I did!

Did well my last two trips out there, before Summer Celebration started. We hit two eyes over 5lbs one evening, largest was 7.5lbs and was tossed back. Two mornings later we railed the pike and released a two man limit of keepers, plus an assortment of "subspecies" and a few smaller hammer-handles. All were caught trolling stickbaits....marked big pods of bait in certain places. Deep diving baits run 100'+ back seem to attract the attention of the more desirable species.
