The Bass fisherman invaded us on Opening Day. Buzzed around everybody, created a nuisance and then left. Haven't seen too many Bass fisherman recently. Walleye fisherman however are too numerous to count. Getting to be like fishflies. Everywhere.
Maybe a.w.o.l. can tell us. He knows this lake as well as anyone.

Tough fishing let me tell ya. There were so many fishflies there, my partner and I thought we were being attacked by them. Did manage to catch 4 2lb'ers and that was it. All of them were fat with, my guess, fish flies.

Chamookman,
Bass are still along the mile roads but have moved out to 8 - 10 FOW. Water is very clear which is good and bad. Good thing is you can sometimes see the fish come after your lure, bad thing is they are a bit spooky. I have tried tubes, spinners, cranks and jerks. My most successful lure has been a husky jerky in silver and black. Make long casts. Most bass seem to be 2 - 3 lbs. Have lost a couple of larger ones, but I eliminate the barbs on my trebles.
Good Luck, hope you catch a bunch.

I fished it last week and it was SLOOOW. Best day I managed to boat 3 keeper sthe best being a 2-1/2 pound smallie. I think the hatch had things messed up. Guides I talked to were fishing the Canadian side. I have a friend up there now and reporting the same.

Sarted out south of Metro beach, fished from 8' to 12' off the Mile Roads. Lost the first fish, in the 17"-18" range on a jump  ! It was slow, caught three more Smallies there + a couple of Largemouth. Did have two Walleyes follow a crankbait back to the boat, Pike style. Ran over to the Old Lighthouses by the old channel (Big Muscamoot) - nada for Our efforts. With an Eye on the aproaching storms We ran over in front of Selfridge (10fow) and promply caught two more Smallmouth 16"-17". Started seeing some electical action on the horizon, so We hightailed it for the launch. Good thing, when We got to 94&59 the skys opened up and dumped ALOT of rain and lightning. Had great fun as allways - Bob WC#253

Thanks for the report. Are you going again this year? I'm thinking on giving it a try again this year. My son and I was one of those 100,000,000,000 bass boats that were there on opening weekend. We did good. Got maybe 35 smallies. Had to work for them.

I most likely won't be back this Year, unless I try a Fall (Sept-Oct) trip. Refuse to fish the Lake on Week-ends during Summer, week days offer enough excitement dodging go-fasts and cruisers :yikes: ! After Friday on LSC, I run up to the Saginaw River and did well with the Smallies and one Walleye. Bob.
