Darrin, I will be out but will be perch fishing in Ohio waters. You might want to try the 27 ft of water in front of Fermi right on the line for walleyes.Fished there this morning and took some really nice fish up to the 8 lb range. We fished weapons and were reeling as soon as the rig hit the water.caught fish there from 6:00 am till 8:30 am and then it slowed down.
Good Luck
Capt`n Dwayne
I will be on 68, if you deciede to perch fish give me a shout

I'll be out but not until the evening. I was finally able to wrangle a day off and will be taking the family to Erie Metro to picnic and hit the wave pool. The boat will be sitting in the lot until late afternoon when we hit the water. Good Luck.

sunday we swated bugs for a few hours and didnt get a keeper. this was out of bolles. we fished south and we fished striaght out in front of the 2 stacks.
monday we fished out of erie metro. crossed the shipping channel and started fishing. we caught a dozen 13 to 14" walleyes and the usual sheep and silver. pretty rough. 3 to 4' out there in the am. after 10 we went into the river and ran some j-13's up to the bridge and back. spent alot of time cleaning lines. just another nice day on the water.

I too went out of Erie Metro Park but on Monday (yesterday). I started out at the south end of the banana dyke in 17-19 fow. Nothing but a turdhead. Took a ride up to Sugar Is., hole in the wall and buoy 81 with nothing but rockies, sheeps and one slab 'gill and a 8 inch perch on a double header to show for it. I'm seriously thinking about hitting Saginaw bay next w/e.

I hit erie sunday, I was planing on trying for some small mouth but ran into Polarbear at the launch and decided to go out to west sister and do the walleye thing again. It was a little bumpy and buggy early but it got better. I ended up with 6 nice 20 -24" ers. and about 4 billion 13 - 14 7/8" throw backs. Blue berry muffin........ I can not keep this thing in the water!!. 70 - 95 back on the small dipsey. I never got it out on the planer boards it was non stop. :yikes: This is one hot spoon.
Ps. you got to get the one with the chartruce back..
It was nice to see you again Polarbear, Its ben a long time gota hook up some time.. Those bugs reminded me of 2 years ago.. :bash:

You guys need to spend a few bucks and get your ohio licenses. The same area as we fished 3-4 weeks ago is still good, but it is in Ohio.
Even though the rules for next years april/may fishery are gonna go back to the way they were in mich, this time of year it has always been a rule of thumb to go south into ohio. Just the way the bigger fish migrate. So unless you are perch fishing, smally fishing, or just checking the progress on next years fish, if you want a "consistant" walleye fishery, spend the extra few bucks.
I know someone is gonna come on here and say they have been catching them in michigan since june 1st, but that is really the exception to the rule.
Just a friendly word of advice! ;)
I am off to LSC this weekend, and I have heard the fishing has been decent there so far. Looking forward to fishing with my friends from the Lake St. Clair walleye association again. 11 yrs in a row now! :)

Most of my reason for staying in Michigan is laziness. Erie Metro is 20 minutes from the house and Swan Creek is 5 minutes more and puts me fishing as soon as I clear the cans.
The other reason was making sure the new boat is running well before making a long run. Talked to the marina today and he believes the teeth in the hub for the prop are chewed up and I need a new prop. I'm going down there tomorrow morning and we are indexing the prop, running it and hopefully fixing it right there. Marine Masters has been very good to me.
This should be the last thing then after July 15th my free time becomes more abundant for a month or so. Looks like I might be convinced to head to Erieau very soon though. There's no time like the present to start learning cold water trolling.
