I will try to word this without giving away anyones secret fishery.
I took my dog to a samll local inland Lake, just east of Bridgman. When I got there I was suprised to see Headhunters charter boat out there drifting/slowly trolling across the middle with what apeared to be slip bobber rigs.
This lake is maybe 25-30 acres with a max speed of 5mph. Not many people, other then locals fish it.
My question is what the heck was he charting for on this small lake?
Would he be running a charter for Crappie?
The DNR used to stock it with rainbow, but I don't think they have in years.

No, Steve A. this is not another wild goose chase, like the walleye...
Thanks by the way for the effort..!

Glenn,

That lake has been know for its big gills and yes there still is a good trout pop. in there to, but crappies??????? I have never caught one there but thats not saying that they are not there. The rig that they were set up with is the say way we troll for Craps on the other lakes.

Hey Steve,
I have only caught a few Crappie out there, back around those post. I have taken some nice gills out there on the fly rod and 2 very nice rainbows.
I just could not belive he was running a charter on that small lake. It was going to be a night charter to, as his trailer was still dripping water when I got there at 7:30-8pm.
I am guess the target was Rainbow if they are still in there.
I watched him drift across, then back the baot all the way across (north/south). Then he stopped and made a drift again.. I am assuming he was marking the fish on his graph.
I guess that is where I will take me son Friday night. I promised him a fishing trip this weekend.

P.S. Tell your wife I am sorry, I really ment to give you the rest of the Zick's Stix for her. Espeically after that crack about washing my truck..
Thanks again for taking me! Hope we can try agin sometime, I really have a craving for some Walleye.

I know the guy that run's Headhunter, and I'd guess he was just fishing with a couple of friends. I really doubt he was running a charter out there. I'm sure he was after the trout as we've talked about fishing for them out there before. There are still plenty of them out there. I went out to that "other" trout lake by Hartford last Friday. Three of us got 10 trout. Also a pretty decent bag of bluegill before it got dark. The trout bit pretty well right up to about 12:30, then just quit. Not sure what that's all about.
