Well after finishing 6th out of 38 boats and 8th out of 54 boats the last two weeks (with 4 fish both times) Martin and I finally got that elusive 5th fish in the boat tonight to finish 1st out of 34 boats! Put the last one in the well on the LAST cast no less. 14 1/2" but big enough to put us into first place by about half a pound. We weighed in 5 fish for 8.140 lbs.
Just goes to show that you don't have to have a fancy bass rig to put fish in the well!! I loved seeing the look on his 14 year old face when I handed him his half of the stack of $20 bills!! Priceless. :D
We won't say that he didn't catch one keeper tonight.... but he did out fish me the last couple of weeks....
So Thedude, you see.... I really do know how to catch fish....;) Man I so want to forget last Sunday,....:16suspect

nice going man!! --whatever you do - just don't compare your winnings this year to the money you've spent on gas, entry fees, psychiatric help, etc.... ;)

Payout was $205... split 2 ways.... sort of....
As far as gas goes, I'll bet I have not used a full 6 gallon tank fishing yet this season! But I've run my battery down to the point of having to pull start the 50 hp Merc. twice now!! LOL!!! Time to get a second battery!! Now we won't start talking about the gas for the truck towin the boat around.... paid $2.36 this afternoon. Sucks!!!
Big bass was a lousy 2.45 pounder.... we had the second biggest at 2.17. I lost one that I'd bet was quite a bit bigger than 2.45. Big bass took home $190.'
Justin, you all moved in yet??? :D

By the way, I believe 17 boats out of the 34 came back with no fish to weigh. Guess they haven't learned about drop shotting a Budweiser crank bait yet... :p

By her do you mean the wife or the big bass?
Good going. What lake? It seems like 5 fish for 8.14 is a small sack. And what trail are you fishing? Congrats again. My bets finish is 4th which was exciting for me, so I can't imagine what 1st is like. Especially when money is involved.

I went there Wednesday from 9:30am to 12:30 i got on the water late and well it was so hot by noon i had to get off the water.
It was weird if found the fish on the south bank in areas where there was a flat of few weeds (where many bluegill beds were) they were right where it dropped off and some were cruising around the shallows but they were so spooky.
I only caught one bass.
Saw some around 5lbs though.
I think it was either cause of post cold front or the fishing pressue on that lake but wow were they spooky.
Ive never done well on that lake though I do want to figure it out.
Did not really get why the bass were on the bank with less weeds and little to no pads as opposed to tucked back in pads/ weeds.

Yeah, 8.14 is kinda small, but it's not the smallest bag that has one that tourney. We had two fish over 16" and 3 that were between 14" and 15"...... one of which was pretty skinny! Last week we weighed in 4 fish for about 7 lbs... one more fish would have been a money finish but first was over 9 lbs that night. This is not a "trail" tourney, it's an every wed. night event sponsored by the Grandville Gander Mountain store. 100% payout.
