I have fished walleye for 10 years on the bay, but have never tried using any of the three-way rigs that I hear alot about. I have been away from big water fishing for a few years due to my fathers illness, but he has now had a kidney transplant, so hopefully everything will be ok and we can get out to fish a little together this summer. What kind of lures do you use on each end?? And more importantly what are the lenghts of the leaders behind the 3-way swivel?

I just started using them this year out on the bay and on the Saginaw River. Caught fish all three times trolling them, seems giving a little more presentation out there helps out. I have been running tots on an 42" lead and spoons on a 36" lead above. Caught eyes, pike, and even the sheephead like the rigs. ;) That why I like this informative site, learn something new every day.

No sinker. The hot-n-tot takes the rig down to the desired depth. I use it for the first time a couple of weeks ago and found it to be very easy to work with and zero tangles. You can use any deep diving crankbait to take the rig down.

The trick to 3-way rigs is in letting them out. You MUST keep contstant tention on the line so the two don't tangle. If you can feel the crankbait kicking you should be good.

Sometimes out on saginaw bay I am marking fish a couple feet off bottom, the 3 way rig also shines with a long 6-8 ft crawler harness and a 3 ft dropper to a heavy bell sinker. At times the 3 way rig will out produce the bottom bouncer, if the bottoms not rocky or snaggy.
