I have become a pretty good at worm fishing over the yrs with the K&E Magnum worms. But I have been trying to master the powerbaits and such style this season and have lost more fish than I have caught.

Any tips on how to rig the hook in the worm, setting the hook and so forth...
I have been rigging the worm described on this website below

If you are loosing them, is it after the hook set and your reeling them in? I set the hook about as hard as I can. If I'm tourney fishing, I keep the rod as low as possible when I'm fighting the fish and if I see the fish is coming up, I stick the rod tip down into the water. When they jump, that's when they'll throw the hook. If your feeling strikes and missing, it's either gills or your not letting the bass take the bait. When you feel a "bump", reel down and set the hook. The reel down time will give the bass enough time to take it.

I wacky worm a Zoom Trick Worm. The exposed hook seems to get more hook ups than a Texas Rig. Also, it seems to help me with a nail weight in the head. I can feel everything a little bit better...especially the pick ups.

One thing that has really helped me....I take a needle nose and widen the gap on the hook....helps tremendously.

Thanks for the replies..

I am loosing the fish after I set the hook. I guess I am not setting it good. I think its due to the way rigging the worm. What size hook for a 6 inch worm.

I feel the bite see the line move ...real up the slack and set the hook. I still feel the fish keeping my line tight at alltimes and then bam he is gone half way to the boat.

What are some of the best types of worms, sizes brands to use.
What type of weight and size of weight?

Thanks for any info in my quest to master the texas rig
