Man...it seems like every summer about this time I start FREAKING OUT because I can't wait for October again.

Oh..I have plenty to do this summer. We're moving, having a baby, buying a new car, maybe opening another restaurant....

But all I can think about is Oct 1

I can shoot 3D's every dang day and that's fun but I'd trade 2 months of those for one day in a tree ;) Next best thing but there's a long ways between 'em.

Yuppers, those hunting shows/video's and magazines are getting a good workout. But sure would like to be in the woods too.

I hear ya' ! We start the last weekend in Sept . here in Tn. ,but the weather is still hot at that time . They legalized crossbows in archery season in Tn. , but any additional hunting pressure won't affect me on my hunting lease .

I have so much to do that I am wondering how I will be ready by the end of September! I still don't even have my boat in the water yet this year, my daughter's bow needs to be fixed, she needs to do hunter safety, and my son's bow needs to be tweaked because he probably grew a foot from last summer. I would like to put a new site on my bow and re-tune it as well. Shoot 3-d? Heck I have a target in the back yard and I have only been out there twice this year.
Ok, all that said I already find myself dreaming of October as well...... Last year was extra special. This year will be my youngest childs first year hunting. <----<<<

That's gotta be a great feeling Joe. My oldest is only 2 but I really look forward to havin' him do a sit or two with me this year. Can't wait for him to be able to participate...

Kelly, words can't express how gratifying it is to sit with your children as they take their first deer. There is a special tree on my property that my two sons and I sat in together (in different years of course) as they both experienced successful harvests. My daughter who was 11 last year didn't hunt, but sat in that tree with me as well. This will be her first year to actually hunt. Sitting in that tree with her this Fall is going to be extra special as she is my last child that I get to be involved in a first hunt with. If and when she takes a deer..... It is even hard for me to imagine how gratifying that will be.
Enjoy your children Kelly, they grow up fast. As soon as they are old enough let them sit out there with you, and even let them help you track. I have so many fond memories of such occasions, that I can say at this point in my life; this is truly what it is all about. <----<<<
