We went bowfishing this past Sunday to Metro beach, got there around 4:00,did not see any fish spawning. Is the spawn over or not quite started? We only got 2 fish, had to move slowly over the lilly pads and find them laying there.
Has anyone done any good in and around St. Clair?May try some night shooting this weekend.

As far as I can tell the next two weeks will be the best. Everyone else has been saying that the spawn season for carp is a bit behind this year because of the weather. I was at Harsen's Island this past Sunday and a couple of pairs of spawners were on the other side of the canal. I lost an arrow when the line snapped while trying to haul in a big carp.

I was talking to a buddy who works for Wayne County and this afternoon he had work to do on Lakeshore Dr (Jefferson) through the Grosse Pointes. He said Carp, and rather large ones at that, were doing their spawning dance through out all the shallow areas right up against the wall. No way to get to them from shore because it is the Grosse Ptes., but by boat, well that is a whole different story.

The carp are slapping against every boat and piling I can see in the Salt River as I type this, they are probably at Brandenburg and Selfridge too.

Went out of Lake Erie Metro Park bowfishing Friday night with my son Dan And 4 other guys Dan,Wes, Gary, & a newbie Kevin. It was windy and the water was muddy but there were lots of Gar around. We did shoot a few carp, (1) 18 pounder by Kevin but mostly we shot Gar. The bugs were pretty bad if you were not in the wind then they settled down about 11:30. Kevin the newbie started shooting well and slayed his share of fish, poor Gary has not figured it out yet but in his defense most of his shots were at Gar which are tough to hit. Everyone else shot a few fish, I shot at a Gar missed it and hit a carp that I did not even know was there until I pulled my arrow in. We probably shot 40-50 fish. The Gar saved the night, still wondering if the water is ever going to be clear again. We are going out next Saturday night a father/son thing with a couple neighbors if the weather allows. It is the neighbors reward for having to look at the Redneck pontoon boat in my driveway all year. It is my idea of a great way to celebrate Fathers Day!
