Can you use your bow in Gun and Muzzle loader seasson

I hunt in the UP on my wife's fathers land and this year I am going to have my bow with me during rifle season.

I am from Texas and I have looked through the hunting guide and cannot find a definitive statement regarding using a bow for Whitetail deer during the other seasons. I know there is an early and late bow season but can I hunt with my bow during rifle season or muzzle loader season?? Some states allow this. Some you cannot during muzzle loader but you can during rifle season. Thanks for the help.

Thanks Great. I will get a combination license. Last year I got both a gun licenese and an archery license but did not start bow hunting until the late season archery like Dec 22- Jan2. It was pretty cold for a desert Texas boy (-14F) but I had better gear this year. Wool....

You can use a bow during gun season but all the regulations pertaining to gun hunters apply: You cannot shoot an antlerless deer without an antlerless permit from 11/15-30, you have to wear hunter orange, etc.

You can hunt during the rifle season with a bow but as mentioned before you must wear hunter orange. The second archery season runs from December 1 through the beginning of January and coincides with the muzzle loader season. I do believe that during that overlap you do not need a rifle kill tag to bowhunt, or hunter orange.

Yep I had the exact opposite experience. In 1982 I moved to Tyler Tx on August 18th, I arrived at my destination at 10:30 pm, I almost passed out when I opened the door of my air condidioned vehicle to the pleasant nighttime temp. of 112 degrees. Somebody was YEEHAWING and shooting out the flourescent lights on a billboard across the street from the gas station I stopped at ( I swear that is true). I also learned rather quickly the next day that you do NOT rest your arm on the car door when the window is down!! Anyhow welcome to MIchigan.

So even if you have an archery tag you cannot shoot a doe with the archery tag during rifle season?

That's correct, your archery tag is not valid during that time period.:cool:
