Well last night my cuasin and his buddy went out bowfishing/spearing(i was bowfishing). They tryed it a few years ago and had no luck and quite bowfishing. Well the first carp i saw i just grazed him. and shot at 5 other fish. after missing 6 carp i went to the spear and got one without a problem and got a couple more. I was just wondering how you are suppose to aim. I know about the whole reflection thing but are you suppose 2 use sights? The first one i could see threw my peep sight becuase i was close to the light but all the others i couldnt.

I use my 10 yard pin and aim below the fish depending on the distance of the fish from me.If the fish are close and close to the top of the water I`ll aim right at them. But I think using a pin will help.Just keep trying, you will get the hang of it.

Where did you guy`s go? I`m going Sunday night to Metro beach.I`ll post my results.Good luck... Duckman.

Aim low. Unless its at the surface then just right at it. Even if you think your too low your probably still high. Its pretty tough to miss one because you aimed too low. So always think lower.

I went to Rush lake in pickney. We got a total or 5 carp 1 dogfish 1 gar pike. we lost 2 other carp and one other dogfish and I missed like 5 carp with my bow.

The gar pike was a dumb*** i hit him 3 times with the spear and each time we followed him in circles for liek 20mins. then my cuz's buddy grabbed the other spear with closer tines and got him. it was a small gar. when we got him in the boat he fit inbetween the tines on my spear.

lose the peep, shoot instintive, with one pin.

Dedicate a separate bow used only for bowfishing.

I dont use pins at all. Anything closer that about 10yds will be backwards on your sights.

What really helped me and my friends when we were starting was asking the guy in the back of the boat how you are lined up. Someone a few feet away will be able to see the angle you need to be on. Dont know why it is like this but give it a try.

My friend two years ago kept track of how many shots it took to get his first. 54 shots over two days. Heck of a fisherman but never shot a bow before.

He keeps up with me now. Hang in there you will get it.
