alleninalaska: Did you write down his ISP so you can catch him trying to sneak back
alleninalaska: Gotta do what you Gotta do
webmaster: No allen but I banned him by email and IP address so unless he gets another ISP he is gone.
Trout: Some times breaking up is hard too do :)
Trout: LOL
webmaster: Ya right trout.
Trout: Hey I'm fishing for cats tonight gotta go at 9 or so
webmaster: I thought he might try to show up here for chat as the two are not integrated.
alleninalaska: Well if I have two ISP in this little town, I am sure he has access to more than one
Trout: Just kidding web :) I don't want the ax too
webmaster: Don't worry trout. Like I said, I hated doing it. The last thing I want to do is to stomp out all opposing viewpoints but he was way out of control.
webmaster: If he would have even talked about hunting for fishing a few times I would have given him a break.
Trout: Yep your right
alleninalaska: He said he hunted Quail once
webmaster: I must have missed that one.
Trout: That was Dan Quayle
alleninalaska: LOL
webmaster: :) Good one trout!
Trout: is that right?
Trout: must have been
alleninalaska: No he said he was a Quail hunter
webmaster: No more left wing propanganda
Trout: Hey web did you read 333 post about meeting and shooting together
Trout: I thought he said grouse ??
webmaster: Yes I did. Don't know if I have time to organize such an outing though. Have to go to Germany soon for work.

Trout: inside? or all over
webmaster: brb guys
Trout: Whats going on in Bethel this time of year allen?
alleninalaska: Not much, you saw the pictures, hope to have the boat in the water next week sometime
Trout: That would be fast bet the waters cold
alleninalaska: Probably in the hogh 30's low 40's
Trout: Water here is 46 in the lake
Trout: 54 near shore on a good day
alleninalaska: Too cold for the fish, they will start moving at about 50-53 down there
Trout: The river I am fishing tonight is warmer and looks like brown coffee
Trout: Thats what the capt. said
alleninalaska: Spring colors
Trout: we catch catfish up to 20 # in the river
Trout: Spring is coming on fast
alleninalaska: That's cool
Trout: I will be turkey hunting Tuesday

alleninalaska: Good luck on that Turkey hunt
Trout: I wish for Fall but I don't want to rush it

boehr: I see JQ is gone...Iactually started clapping to the computer :)

Trout: your too kind
boehr: Temps sure did turn around, it is actually cold out there.

boehr: Too few mechanics...to many boats
Trout: Boehr whats the size limit on catfish ????

Trout: thanks I can't place my rule book
boehr: 10 possession limit on channel cats
boehr: 5 possession on flatheads
Trout: I neve5r keep but two or three
boehr: Flathead, the five is in combination with bass, walleye and pike too
Trout: Not too many flatheads around here
Trout: Hey guys we are going fishing so I'll post what we catch later
Trout: Bye
boehr: I see some but mostly I see channel cats, lots of people use to fish for them at night from shore in Saginaw Bay just about this time of year, maybe a little later

boehr: Hellow Bob
alleninalaska: Hi BobJS
BobJS: Hi guys, would have been here soon but it took me a while to remember my password
boehr: Happens to me too Bob
webmaster: Welcome BobJS what's on your mind tonight?
BobJS: I have a question boehr, If I am on my own property with a small game license and carrying a revolver, do I need to be wearing hunter orange?
boehr: Yes, if between Aug 15 and April 30
boehr: If you are hunting!
BobJS: But not tomorrow then?
boehr: Correct
BobJS: just walking around
BobJS: thanks alot
webmaster: So boehr, got any good stories about violators that you've run across lately?
boehr: If you were...say target practicing on Sept 20 then you don't need orange, only while hunting between those dates.
BobJS: OK, Thanks
boehr: Well, I do have a situation that I am trying to find out the facts or cure a rumor
*: You are on channel 1 with alleninalaska, boehr, BobJS.
webmaster: What do you mean?
boehr: I had a call from a local sport shop that told me he had a person in the shop that had received a ticket last March for hunting rabbits with an illegal gun
boehr: that gun being a Thompson Contender with a .410 barrel in the shotgun zone.
boehr: That normally would not be an illegal weapon at that time of the year
boehr: So...I told the sport shop to have the guy call me when he got home to look at the ticket and tell me the name of the officer
webmaster: I see, always something isn't it?
boehr: That way I could have the ticket dismissed and teach the officer
boehr: or...is this just about something somebody heard and is spreading something around that's not true????
boehr: This happened last Thursday and so far I have heard nothing, I have check with all my officers in my district and none of them wrote a ticket like that
webmaster: Well I know you will miss having JQ around :)
alleninalaska: The 410 contender barrel is also chambered for the 45 Colt
boehr: The only think that I can think of that would make it an illegal weapon is if the guy did not have it registered....Thomspon Contender must be registered as a handgun
alleninalaska: only the frame
boehr: Doesn'y matter about the 45 because in March you can hunt rabbits with a 30-06 if you want in the shotgun zone
webmaster: Wouldn't be much left of the rabbit :)
boehr: I agree but at this point I think it was another JQ in the sport shop spreading around a rumor to cause controversy
boehr: I know if I got a ticket and I knew I was write, I'd be calling the supervisor for help
boehr: Maybe he will call this week, I hate having a situation like this that can't be brought to an end
BobJS: The problem I had with JQ was that he seemed to spread his opinion as fack to often.
webmaster: Well it looks like a slow night here tonight. I thought we'd have JQ here ranting and raving.
BobJS: oops fact
boehr: I don't think he has ever been on has he?
webmaster: JQ would have been ok if he'd talk about hunting and fishing once in a while. Plus I had way too many complaints about him from other users.
webmaster: No I've never seen him on chat.
BobJS: maybe that why it is slow, some of the guys didn want to put up with him
boehr: I don't mind someone with different ideas, that makes things better in the long run but to keep stating the same think over & over & over...........
webmaster: So what do you guys think about the new NRC baiting props?
*: gooser just logged on to Jabber Chat.
*: gooser just entered this channel.
webmaster: Howdy gooser! Ever been on the campfire before?
BobJS: I have not baited in about 12 years, so they can ban it all together for all I care
gooser: no first time
alleninalaska: Hi gooser. You just left shooters com that was quick
webmaster: I'm guessing that you are a waterfowl hunter gooser.
alleninalaska: This is one towards my t-shirt web
gooser: thats right
boehr: web...I'm not sure what to think, I a little confussed about the baiting issue. As a hunter I'd really like baiting done away with
webmaster: Sure would make things easier wouldn't it? You wouldn't have to worry about the guy in the next section over having all the deer on his prop because he has 3 tons of carrots out.
BobJS: IMO, a hunter uses the woods, a baiter harvests, and I think I am a hunter
boehr: I also seen a release that is going to possibly make it that if someone doesn't turn in their survey postcard he will not be able to purchase a license the following year
BobJS: or at the least I try to be
BobJS: I read that too
webmaster: Well they ought to send everyone a survey every year.
webmaster: Or make you call in a 1-800 number when you get your deer so you get a code which would allow you to take it to a processor.
boehr: As a hunter, I'm not against a hunter that does bait providing it's reasonable
webmaster: I have used bait, but I have enough experience, and the spots that I hunt are good enough that I could get by without it. That is, if no-one else around me is using it either.
gooser: Just wanted to checkout your site,I'll be back later
boehr: Problem I have with the postcard is acurate. If a hunter wants more deer in his area, will he/she tell the truth on his experience or will he tell something that they think will benefit next year
webmaster: Enjoy
*: gooser just logged off.
webmaster: Still more scientific than we have now boehr.
BobJS: like when you get a new credit card and you have to call the number to activate your card. The same could be done with licenses. After the season you call an 800# .
webmaster: Yes, Bob!
boehr: I don't know, is it. We sent out about 40000 postcards plus all the hunters that bring in there deer for a patch, I don't know
BobJS: press 1 for a doe, 2 for a buck and then enter # of points
webmaster: Well more scientific than watching deer go down I-75.
boehr: The phone would be ok but you still want to know the county, how many days you hunted etc.
BobJS: with all of the trucks and SUVs it must be tough counting deer on cars
boehr: Web the deer going down 75 has nothing to do with the deer count
BobJS: you could ure the doe area # for the county
boehr: The deer going down 75 is to give the press an idea that the season is going good, same as last etc
webmaster: So boehr what do they use then?
boehr: Everybody want to know how deer season is progressing
boehr: They use the 40000 post cards they have been sending out every year for many many years
boehr: That's fourty thousand
webmaster: Right boehr, I did get one of those surveys, but only one year out of the ten that I've hunted.
BobJS: I heard a rumor this week that the opener might be moved to the 11th, a Saturday,
boehr: Well there is 750,000 hunters so you are not going to get one every year
webmaster: I know, that's why I think the 40,000 is way too low.
boehr: Look at it this way, the presidential election they poll 500 people and they can tell you who's going to win by what margin,
webmaster: Yea, I suppose, but they can't get enough info as to what the buck/doe ratio is in a lot of areas I wouldn't think.
BobJS: but thats a scientific poll, whats scientific about how the DNR sends out postcards?
boehr: Bob that's a radom poll, same way the postcards are sent out
boehr: There are summer deer observation reports that are done for an idea of buck to doe ratio
webmaster: I don't know boehr, it just seems like it could be more accurate than it is now.
webmaster: Who does the observation reports?
BobJS: a lot of political polls are done by professional pollsters who know how to take a poll
boehr: Conservation Officers, biologists, some rual mailmen some volunteers etc
webmaster: Sound interesting, how do you volunteer?
BobJS: a lot of hunters don have that kind of faith in the DNR postcard system
boehr: You must remember, just one method is not just used, it's a combination of many different methods over the course of one year, every year
boehr: A lot of hunters have never taken the time time find out about the methods
webmaster: Yeah, maybe its just a matter of promotion. Maybe they need some more publicity and visibility on what they are already doing?
boehr: What makes you think that the hunter will have faith in this proposed postcard method?
BobJS: the system may be very accurate, but a lot of hunters dont have faith in it, I see that as the problem
webmaster: Don't have faith in it or they don't know about all the methods employed and their relative accuracy.
boehr: I agree Bob, they don't have faith in it and many, no matter what is done will never have faith in it
BobJS: either way better communication from the DNR is in order
boehr: Bob, are you a member of a sportsmens club?
BobJS: agree, next topic?
BobJS: Saginaw Field and Stream
*: Hunter333 just logged on to Jabber Chat.
*: Hunter333 just entered this channel.
boehr: I don't know ever of a biologist or an officer who was asked to speak at a club and refused
Hunter333: hello all, nice to see someone else is here
webmaster: Howdy Hunter!
Hunter333: first time here, whats the topic?
boehr: The DNR puts out all kinds of press released but can not force that information to be printed
webmaster: Whatever is on your mind.
BobJS: agree
Hunter333: Not too many of us here tonight
webmaster: I thought you've been here before. I guess I must just recognize your name from the forums.
webmaster: No Hunter it is a slow night.
Hunter333: Nope, always too stinkin busy :(
BobJS: I think a lot of it is, if a hunter doesnt see the amount of deer he thinks he should, then it must be the fault of DNR policy
webmaster: What part of MI you from Hunter?
Hunter333: West side, Shelby area. You?
boehr: That's part of it and part of it is storys are taken a fact without really seeing if they are true
Hunter333: Name please Webmaster?
webmaster: Oakland County. You fish much over there?
webmaster: My name is Steve.
Hunter333: Nope, went to school in Washtenaw but never got outdoors much over on taht side
Hunter333: I figured but thought that I would ask, thanks
BobJS: Well guys, its been fun, but time for bed. Going to go walking in the swamp tomorrow.
webmaster: So where do you live now?
Hunter333: Any news on the Million Mom March?
boehr: Take care Bob
BobJS: till next time.
Hunter333: Shelby, north of Muskegon
*: BobJS just logged off.
Hunter333: Any thoughts on my MI Sportsman get together?
Hunter333: Pipe dream on my part?
webmaster: Hunter ya do any trout fishing over there?
webmaster: Seem like a good idea, just don't have much time left over after running this site.
boehr: I could go for a get together Hunter
Hunter333: Not yet but I would like to learn how
webmaster: Then ya gotta worry about somebody like Johnny Quality showing up.
Hunter333: It would be nice to get together with everyone and put a face with a name
Hunter333: I would welcome him, then ignore him, like now :)
alleninalaska: Hit the White River for trout Hunter
webmaster: Hunter I have fished some of the tribs of the White over that way with some success.
Hunter333: If we ignore him, he will not be here for long
boehr: He'll probably be back under a different name
Hunter333: I wouldnt know where to start but hope to someday
webmaster: He's gone as of today Hunter
Hunter333: Roger that! Thanks
Hunter333: With his ideas, he will be easy to spot
webmaster: Allen, you've fished the White?
Hunter333: Allen, are you really way out in the boonies in Alaska?
alleninalaska: Yes if you consider 400 miles from Anchorage way out in the boonies
Hunter333: Isnt technology wonderful? :)
alleninalaska: I was born and raised in Muskegon though
webmaster: I consider Anchorage way out in the boonies :)
Hunter333: Where would I start to trout fish?
Hunter333: Really? Thats not too far from here. I use to live there myself
alleninalaska: I have an Uncle living about 6-7 miles east of Shelby, can't remember the name of the little intersectioin though
boehr: I was thinking the same thing web
alleninalaska: It's been since 82 that I visited him last
webmaster: Allen did you ever fish Carleton creek?
Hunter333: Hesperia?
alleninalaska: I don't remember if I did or not. Usually just went fishing and didn't think of names
Hunter333: Nice little river there, part of the White River I believe
webmaster: Nice brookie trib of the White.
boehr: Well guys, think I'm going to say goodnight, won"t be able to make it Thursday sa take care all
Hunter333: So what do i need to have to get into trout fishin?
alleninalaska: Family had a cabin on North Lake back in the early sixties to the early seventies
webmaster: Later Boehr.
Hunter333: See ya Boehr
webmaster: Hunter you need a fishing pole, some hooks, and some crawler if you want to keep it simple.
Hunter333: Simple is good :)
*: boehr just logged off.
Hunter333: Pole, hooks I have
Hunter333: When and where? Just cast out?
alleninalaska: Big juicey night crawlers
webmaster: I been meaning to put together a beginning trout fishing tutorial for this site but never got around to it.
Hunter333: That would be great!! Let me know if you get to it
webmaster: Just put the hook throught the crawler and use the whole crawler. Try to make the crawler look natural on the hook, hooking it near the band of the crawler.
webmaster: Then use a split shot if there is a lot of current and dead drift your rig through any holes you can find making it look like a crawler drifting through the hole.
webmaster: No action just a dead drift.
Hunter333: Is there a way to tell if one place is better than another? Spotting fish would help :0
Hunter333: :)
webmaster: Once you get the hang of this and learn how to read the water and figure out where the fish are, you can graduate to fly fishing if that is your desire.
Hunter333: I intend to get out and do some out of the way fishin this summer
Hunter333: That wiykd be great!
webmaster: You can watch the water during a hatch. If there are fish there you will see them rising to eat.
Hunter333: would, gotta love the typing :)
webmaster: Well guys, I have to call it a nite. See ya.
Hunter333: Later Steve
Hunter333: I do too
Hunter333: goodnight all
*: webmaster just logged off.
alleninalaska: Later web, I am going to call it quits also. If you ever want to chat hunter my e-mail is in my profile. c u later
